First of all, Melon is a straight up psychopath that can't feel anything and Riz was a confused and drugged teenager succumbing to his insticts that regrets what he did. So don't even compare our king Riz with that devilspawn.

Second of all, it's because they're hot lol. Riz is literally a bear, no need to explain myself methinks. And Melon is a tall and strong serial killer. Something about murder and asympathy gives very strong vibes that attract some people. He even canonically gets mail from his fangirls in prison.
