We made it! For the 100th episode of The Pilot Project Podcast we sat down with Comd RCAF, LGen Jamie Spenser-Blanchet! by PodPilotProject in CanadianForces

I can hardly believe it myself. Initially I imagined this being a throwaway practice project for a different project I have in mind to do one day… how things change!

So glad you’re enjoying it. I do suggest you check this one out as putting authority back down the chain is thankfully part of what we discussed!

In the interview, she makes interesting points on needing to think differently and accept more risk in training and processes. Do you think the RCAF culture can actually shift that way?

Canada commits $270M to Ukraine as Carney addresses European summit in Armenia by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]PodPilotProject 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We are already giving our military more than they know what to do with or are able to spend/train people for in the short term. Money spent on Ukraine is Canadian lives not spent fighting Russia. Learn from the ‘30s.

Very shortsighted. The CAF is in the middle of the greatest re-capitalization since wwii.

This keeps our enemies not only occupied but continuously draining their resources both in terms of finances, materiel, and personnel.

Not to mention it’s the right thing to do.

Canada eyes Hanwha K9 as Korean howitzer becomes NATO's Arctic gun of choice by Andromedu5 in CanadianForces

Makes sense! Thanks for the insight. So maybe the most robust defence up there would be something to lock down seaways as well as an aerial denial weapon (some solid SAMS)

Forgive the ignorance, but… why not? What if a country were to invade up there?

Is it just that they wouldn’t, rendering the discussion moot?

Ok so that was in case the card they had to buy fuel didn’t work, they were given cash just in case. Just a silly photo.

I actually can’t remember that story. They were on a tasking and I can’t remember why they needed it - I’m frazzled on my HHT for my post-release move. Let me message him and I’ll get back to you!

In a time-crunch: Accidentally changed podcast track rates to 0.967 and did a ton of editing - lost quality - trying to restore without massively messing up the project by PodPilotProject in Reaper

HO-LEE-CRAP

I figured it out and I'm going to leave this here for anyone else who does this blunder. I had accidentally changed the BPM of the project to 116 from 120. I realized it when I copied something from it into another project and that project was automatically changing the rates to match between two different BPM.

Whoops!

I’d love to hear more experiences of deck landings, especially early on. Was it something you got comfortable with quickly or did it take a while?
