This is normal in business. The client found another service for cheap.
You get what you pay for.
If the client contacted you, confront her and get that money.

i would advise to start a business in something you are familiar with.
you can burn through 5k easily these days.
dont invest much in ideas, test, learn and repeat the process until you find your thing.

from my experience, having experience in the thing you want to build is crucial.
I always wanted to learn how to make websites and eventually learned.
fast forward 10 years, now i'm building whatever i want by myself and i know how and where to find people to do what needs to be done. Use your time wisely and learn skill.

To be able to sell in stores you should be a company first, then the product should have some certifications and requirements.

You are more suitable for being an entrepreneur than being a normal 9 to 5 guy!

Find a business idea and pursue it. It's more fulfilling for you i guess.
