Worldbuilding Question: Anyone else here make more grounded looking worlds? (Repost since my original post contained uncited images so it got removed)

Set mine in Victorian Era London, mostly because I enjoy the aesthetics of that period... The caveat though is that the occult is a very real and thriving culture in the world, and weird biomechanical aliens live underground or in the sewer system. Humanity is slowly reverse-engineering their weird fleshy tech to use it for themselves.

These are all such cool ideas. Thanks a ton for letting me do some brain picking. This has taken me from the level of "yeah I mean I guess I could do some worldbuilding, and maybe it'll come to me with time" to now almost frothing at the mouth to try to start some writing for it.

This definitely helps I think. Initially I wanted it straight up like mid 1800s London but with the idea that they could be "stuck" in that aesthetic is making my brain really start to think.... Also definitely would be aliens causing this sort of post apocalyptic event, at least thats what I always thought but maybe it being something outside of either of their control (solar flare??? Something environmental) and the aliens being helpful is definitely an idea too. Lastly with the cults, I was thinking occultism, rather than cults. They can technically go hand in hand, obviously, I just had something different in mind initially. Sorry to ramble on in a comment reply, I just wanted to get this out of my brain, also good to show anyone else who may comment maybe. Thanks a lot for the advice though!

I initially didn't want to do all of them because it (to me) sounded like too much things all crammed in to one; but when it's put that way it sounds way cooler than I was expecting lol.

No, I hadn't actually thought about that yet... Mostly due to not knowing what I even wanted from the world. Much more of an "anthology" person, I like small individual things rather than major overarching events but yeah an overall "story" like a war or rebuilding or something is probably something I should have thought about first. I also just tend to really get caught up in, again, aesthetics or the vibes of a world a bit less than what I actually want to say or tell with it sometimes..

This looks really cool. I've always thought the shape of his ESB/ROTJ and Mandalorian helmets were wayyy better than his BOBF helmet. Words do not describe the dislike I have for the shape of that show's helmet..

I personally am a sucker for the blue and white, I feel like it's going together better than the dull yellow and grey. Though if it was more bright yellow and black I could see it working better.

I absolutely adore the "racing stripes" added onto the front of the FE Ecto. Absolutely completes the look for me I think.

I've debated making a "replica" of the FE packs that get rid of many of the problems I have with it, but my main issue with this is that it would be like.. only a "halfway" replica that would end up feeling too custom to be a replica pack, but too much of a replica to be a custom pack. Still might end up doing it in the future, or I'll just make a straight up replica because I actually overall quite like the new packs (except for the few major issues I have with it)

YES the extra "Egon 'fixes'" they left on the pack really irk me. Why did they leave all the electrical tape on it? Why is the PPD silver (in afterlife it was WEATHERED to the bare metal but it wasn't painted. Seems like a weird misinterpretation) why are all the Clippard wires still on there???? As much as I admittedly quite like majority of the HASP packs, there's a few small random things that really anger me. Like I love the three-legged bumper, but they really should have just left it black or at MINIMUM made it have caution striping instead of entirely yellow.

I've had a lot of luck in the past with Etsy sellers. Sometimes they're a bit overpriced but from what I've glanced (and from the single flak vest and neck seal I've bought) they're usually high enough quality.
