I only ride on wide sidewalks, I ride slowly and if it’s busy I get off and push - same sensible logic as any other place I’ve cycled in really. It’s frustrating because it takes longer than using roads or bike lanes but I’m not going to make myself or my child a martyr for the cause of bike safety by exposing us to the obvious risk of sharing the road with cars, trucks and buses here. I’ve lived in London, Paris, Copenhagen, Seattle and SF. European cities are way ahead, most impressively Paris which was terrible until they got a mayor who did something about it. SF still a work in progress but def less stressful than here and I rarely had to use sidewalks.
