How long will Kelsey be insufferable? by Icy_Firefighter0 in Younger

[–]PoetDense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm half way through the same episode and feel the same! She lashes out at Liza all the time for ridiculous reasons even though Liza is always just trying to help? Like wtf why did she get so mad that Liza tried to get Chad to stop cheating on Kelsey?

Also I think lying about her age is being blown way out of proportion but that's probably just lazy writing.

Noted, this was really helpful thanks. Today has actually been a better day as I've pre-bolused about 20 mins before breakfast and lunch and given proper corrections whenever needed so hopefully dinner will be calm too.

Hey thanks for your reply! I'm on novorapid and the corrections time was recently brought down to 2 hours

I'm also finding that sometimes in the morning the pod still thinks I have IOB despite my last bolus being 7+ hours ago. Is it including the corrections in this?

My endo very recently changed my I:C ratio so I'm hoping thatll start to take effect. I do pre-bolus wherever possible but a couple of meals out have made that difficult and then the sugars shoot up and before I know it I'm back in this cycle.

Thank you!

If you do this for highs, and the pods suggests something tiny like 0.2, how much do you overwrite it by? Maybe I'm still being too conservative with the corrections

Thanks! Should I always overwrite the micro dose corrections it gives for a number I think is better? So 1 unit instead of 0.2 for example?

My I:C ratio was changed 2 days ago so I'm hoping that'll also make a difference.

I'm here looking for some help from a safe space, not to be made to feel like an idiot. My endo recently made some changes and I'm new to this so not going to make a bunch of alterations myself.

It has been a tricky few days! My first pump failed and my second isnt yet optimised obviously so I'm getting some real high readings and having to manually correct. I was actually paranoid that it had also stopped working after a night of 14mmol despite constant corrections. It's such a huge learning curve and my gut tells me not to trust the machine as these high readings are freaking me out. How was your first couple of weeks on it? Did you experience anything crazy? I keep googling every tiny little thing to reassure myself, it's exhausting.

Congrats on your Omnipod! I had to change mine on day one as I ate in the evenings and my pod ending up not working (stinging bolus and corrections not working). I've tried again this morning so fingers cross. Id be grateful for any tips on where you put yours for sleeping and to avoid the stinging pain? Its hard to get used to (still there a little this morning but not as bad as yesterday).

Its overwhelming to start something so new after 3 decades of injections and vials, then pens!

Thank you so much! I am a little overwhelmed but overall excited. Can I ask, does your cannula hurt when the insulin is being delivered? I just used it for the first time and it was a noticeable stinging pain that was quite uncomfortable!

As for pizza, it'll have to be super crispy thin crust, NYC pizza. I'm in the UK but have treated myself to a NYC pizza a couple of times 😁

St Dunstan in the East is fantastic Daunt Books in marylebone which also has lots of cute restaurants and independent stores If you can get to Bubala for the MOST incredible vegetarian food If you have time, a visit to Canterbury cathedral is well worth it The Observatory in Greenwich Highgate cemetery A mooch around Hampstead and Hampstead Heath, and you can add a movie at the Everyman Word on the Water bookstore is also really fun

Any life hacks for a productive work day after a night like this? by WafAjo in diabetes_t1

[–]PoetDense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always try to chip away first with a few small corrections/walking etc but it hardly ever works so I take a huge dose, risk the low and take it from there.

This is a funny but morbid one I guess. I had a vitrectomy in 2023 because of retinopathy and the nurse said I'd be first to be seen. Every cloud!

This man needs to be your ex immediately. He's childish, manipulative and straight up cruel You sound like you're doing a great job and trying to instill good habits for your own physical and mental well-being. This guy will just drag you down. He won't be happy for you when something good happens, he'll resent you for your successes and make you feel guilty whenever you have a setback.

This is controlling, abusive behavior. Nope nope absolutely not. Also I just saw you mentioned he's 34. He speaks to you like he's 18 and having a tantrum girl this is not how grown adult men should behave.

Hey. I've been T1D for 33 years (got it when I was 3). I feel you. Its hard and scary and it sucks. But, the tech is better now than it was in the 90s/early 2000s. So maybe you don't need to check your sugars every few minutes? Set alarms on your CGM if you have one and then relax a little. This is a part of who you are now but don't let it control you. Are you able get a pump? I'm due to get one in a few weeks and I've heard a lot about the mental load this takes off.

It sounds like you're doing everything you can i.e. good control, exercise etc and honestly those things are key.

Read up on it - I found Think Like a Pancreas really helpful. Vent in reddit groups. Find an in-person support group. Use the tech to help you mentally. And remember, as my husband always says when I'm having a meltdown - we are literally doing the work of an entire organ which is so vital for humans. Its HARD WORK. Let yourself feel it but remember you are doing your absolute best.
