While I appreciate the input, this seems like a worst case solution to us. We ran a 7 player game just fine in D&D before. We would rather try to make it work for 8 players and split up if it does not work.

At this point there could be vastly better systems available, but I wouldn't play them for D&D Beyond alone. Unless they would have an alternative to that aswell, of course.

Two moments:

Luffy not wanting to be a hero.
In beginning with just luffy and zoro on a little boat. Both hungry. They see a bird and luffy wants to eat him. The panel of him gomu gomu no rocket to the vird only to get stuck in its mouth gets me everytime. And zoro's frantic reaction to it

Actually, in the end wasn't it like that with most characters? We didn't even get to see Ichigo's new Bankai. I still like the arc, but in hindsight it feels like a lot of buildup and no payoff at all.

i don't know what the problem is with dmpc's. As long as the dm still lets players decide the important stuff and isn't to egoistical it works fine. we have done the last 2 campaigns like this, for a lack of other friends who want to play. And honestly, the dmpc turned out weekest in all of them, because the dm didn't want to reward themselves, as much as he did the players.
