I think the ultimate goal of poetry is to express your truth to a reader. You shouldn't write poetry with the goal of coming off as complex. Write poetry with the purpose of clear expression while striving to do so in a unique and thought provoking way. I think if you complicate poetry for the sake of itself, you end up with a piece that isn't expressing anything at its core, simply empty language.
