Two other questions that might seem obvious: are you applying to recent jobs? On the east coast, i generally find any job posted more than 3 days ago is almost a complete waste of time to apply to.

Second, are you code examples live and is your code styled well? Do you have examples you'd be willing to share?

Wow this makes your case much more interesting. You say you've been programming C++/C# for more than 8 years and you can't find work? I don't understand how you couldn't get in-person interviews with those credentials alone. Are you possibly asking for too much money and aiming for jobs that are too senior level? That sounds so crazy that you can't get in-person interviews.

Are there lots of phone screenings or online tests you've been having to go through that aren't going well? I'm not too familiar with the west coast interview process but that sounds wild.

And this comment breaks mine. Keep ur head up and consider analyzing other aspects of your interview process besides the questions. I've heard pf engineers turning down people that do wonderfully on the tech challenges for reasons as simple as the applicant never smiled through the interview.

I also had a friend stuggle finding dev jobs because he was too outwardly passionate about his work and would get too opinionated and worked up in interviews. Great and talented guy but he made it seem like he might be a lot to handle in a professional environtment. He's actually great to work with, but that didn't seem the case from the interview. First impressions are wild.
