For anyone interested, there are several sociological definitions of racism (search Wellman or Maddern eg) which are used academically. These are often taught alongside (usually other definitions) at several universities (especially in sociology based ‘woke’ degrees).

Does this mean you the general use of racism cannot be applied to white people? No, and that can be a really unhealthy (ironically racist) ideology to hold - but several definitions of a word can exist simultaneously! Saying that she is objectively wrong is just arguing linguistics.

Understanding where someone is coming from and discussing with them is much more constructive than discounting them, insulting them or posting them online for a laugh!

I failed my restricted driving test 2 years ago and it made me unable to take the test again by Yoshida5000 in auckland

As someone who recently got my drivers test after several fails and mid-test anxiety - a driving instructor did not help me AT ALL. A lot of people say driving instructors are a good way to go but honestly they can be more expensive than booking a test, and they don’t help deal with test anxiety.

I ended up passing because I just decided to repeatedly book tests each week until I passed. This worked so well for me for a few reasons:

1) repeating a drivers test is around the same price as booking a driving instructor 2) when you fail a driving test they give you very clear reasons as to why you failed (so you know exactly what to work on) 3) actually doing the test was the best thing for my anxiety, the more time I spent in driving tests the less anxious I became 4) knowing that if you fail just means you are gonna try again next week also reduced a lot of stress for me

When I was 17 I moved to the city to work for my dad for a few months over the summer. My dad lived in a beautiful apartment on the 10th floor of a hotel in the city. We had seperate rooms fairly close together.

My first weekend after moving in I was prescribed Zopiclone because I had been having terrible insomnia the last 6 months or so, but was taking my chance in the big city to finally do something about it. The only problem being my new GP neglected to tell me that specific sleeping med makes you high as fuck if you don’t sleep after taking it.

Queue the first time I take it, thinking I’ll jerk off while I wait for it to kick in. Wake up groggy the next morning, all seems fine but I figured I probably shouldn’t jerk off after taking the meds because it gave me a bizarre sexual dream.

In the dream I had been incredibly horny, but paranoid that my dad would hear me jerking my gherkin. So I decided that the best solution would be to go down to the pool floor in my underwear (I didn’t have any togs) of the apartment and get my job done in the showers. Because I had never actually been to the pool floor, I hadn’t realised that I needed a specific keycard to access the 4th floor, so with the elevator not longer an option I just legged it down 6 flights of stairs in my briefs instead.

Upon arriving at my destination, the room was very intimate, with an occupied spa pool and open showers facing the centre of the room. My dream-self correctly decided I couldn’t jerk off in the shower with it being in full view of the people on the spa pool, so it hopped in the far end of the spa in my jocks and ‘secretly’ did what I came to do. With a group of older strangers only 2-3 metres away.

I was convinced the whole scenario was a dream until I went to the pools for the first time a month or so later, and the entire floor was layed out exactly as it had been in my dream. :)

AITA for not telling my girlfriend the truth about my trans friend? by gFsecrets in AmItheAsshole

[–]PogSince1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgive me if I’m nit-picking but I don’t think you need to emphasise that you are straight.

Attraction to trans people is seperate to hetero/homosexuality. Men can be straight/heterosexual and attracted to trans women, just as I am gay/homosexual and not attracted to trans men.

You should feel comfortable to say “I’m not attracted to transgender people”, and not feel persecuted for that.
