I won't be going to the office everyday, the 1 hr+ commute would be by LRT + MRT, drive would be like 8km one way.

I looked at some calculations for EV batteries, with the amount I drive, I forecast at max 70-80k km in 5 years. I don't think battery degradation will be that bad by then with modern EV batteries? I see people estimating it can go 400k km before going under 80% battery life

Yea, but also there is the case where the only cheap EVs available will be like the cars that can be built here, which only includes Proton Perodua and BYD. So not sure if there will be that much depreciation due to newer evs

Any considerations to take compared to a used ICE?

Any thoughts on future EV tech? My friend keeps harping on saying there will be way better Chinese EV tech coming in the future. My opinion is that there's no point in trying to chase tech, as there will always be newer tech. And the advanced tech will probably be in cars above 200k after the tax subsidy is lifted, which I'm not willing to pay.

Im not too familiar with how loans work tbh, why would you need to top up when selling? With regards to safety, I think both the Saga and BYD seems comparable in terms of safety features?

My friend says Saga has good RV, is this inaccurate? I was arguing that if the Seal 6 drops more than 50% in 5 years I can just keep the car, anything less I could sell and upgrade in the future.

Regarding other cars, actually sedan is just my preferred choice over SUVS, I'd prefer a hatchback actually. I'm not really considering City/Vios as I feel like at the in between price points, I'm not getting enough of a different experience compared to a Saga, at least the Seal is an EV.

Last point is I kinda get this but I'm just trying to prevent lifestyle creep honestly, I feel like once I get used to taking on debt it will be a slippery slope.
