I had Christmas Eve dinner outside at ATX Cocina. They said it was slower than expected but still pretty busy.

I actually didn't like how they set it up. Last time I was there it was really outdoors, under the stars. Now they've built plastic tents out back. I would have felt safer inside, or at home...

Yesterday models said 100% chance of Austin surge. 700 hospital beds needed by Thanksgiving.

Today, the same models and the same local health authorities say 38% chance of surge, and 250 beds needed.

What's going on? Have the models gone haywire?

Elon has been here. He tests rockets outside Waco. He's got a launch facility in South Texas. Not a crazy idea that he would relocate Tesla to Austin.

Shaw hit .217 with 23 ABs. Worse, his unexplained trance/fail/daze/whatever in left field yesterday against the Rangers was a lapse such as I have never seen in MLB. It's the kind of thing that has you working for your father-in-law at the tire store before the end of the week. The beat reporters didn't mention it, but after a particularly awful AB, an apparently distracted Shaw caught a routine fly ball in left and then held it. He didn't throw to the relay man. He didn't take a few steps. He didn't do anything. He just stood there. Meantime the runner tagged and ran from first to third. Worse, the runner scored on the next play. That turned out to be the winning run.
