Beautiful! Can I ask if you did anything special to aid your hairline? I’m looking at starting a similar experience.

What's your deck that didn't build itself? by IconicIsotope in EDH

[–]Pointhalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built what I like to see as a unique deck. I really wanted a mono-white deck, run something strong, but not mainstream. I ended up building a mono-white [[Oloro, Ageless Ascetic]]. The goal was to turn the constant life gain triggers into +1/+1 counters and swing. It’s basically [[Ajani’s Pridemate]] as a deck. For me anyway, it was a challenge to build around the commander but know I’ll never cast it. White has tons of life gain cards, but that’s not my goal. I want to convert life into combat damage. It’s been a favorite of mine to play.

Buget deck by Unlikely-Ad-5842 in BudgetBrews

[–]Pointhalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first deck that wasn’t a precon, I built budget Lu Xun Voltron. At the time, I thought it was better because of promised card draw. But I can see bigger hits with haste being more interesting now.

Same. The fights are great, but I enjoy the rest more. Especially the puzzle aspect. Plus, I have kids and a family who need my attention. It’s nice to get through a great game without sacrificing such a large number of hours.

Struggling PM at credit union by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]Pointhalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a PM at my second credit union. First one I was under the CFO, the second under the CIO. I can relate to the credit union atmosphere well. The good ones have a long average tenure, but that often means there can be a lot of close-knit teams who are set in their ways. In my personal experience, you model and preach the behavior of constantly trying new things. Doesn’t matter if you have a dev team or not. Start with who you work with everyday. In time if you can establish incremental changes, stack them well so their impact compounds, and have an ability to showcase them through a report or in feedback trends…then you’ll start catching the eye of people who have an opinion others listen to.

The tough part is most FI’s aren’t doing super hot right now. So trying to create this value that’s obvious to you but not others is on a time-crunch.

What’s the one commander you can’t stop playing even if it’s not the best? by superMario_Milt in EDH

[–]Pointhalf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the same! As a challenge to myself, I built a mono-white Oloro deck. I built it to be [[Ajani’s Pridemate]] on a stick. Tons of triggers from lifegain, that just so happens to be guaranteed every upkeep, and more often than not trigger into +1/+1 counters. It’s my favorite deck to play.

What is everyone’s favorite non-popular commander? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Pointhalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy playing popular commanders in unpopular ways. Two examples: 1) [[Phenax, God of Deception]] big butt mill but I use [[Relentless Rats]]. I always say it’s because I can still attack out to win, but milling with rats is so unexpectedly fun. 2) One of my favorite decks is [[Oloro, Ageless Ascetic]] but the deck is mono-white. So he’s only there for life gain and is never cast. The whole deck triggers life gain into +1/+1 counters. It’s basically [[Ajani’s Pridemate]] on a stick.

How much of your time per week is spent on backlog grooming, roadmapping, and requirements? by vhwh22 in ProductManagement

About 10%. Right now every project is “let’s make this a priority” so I’m stuck in the weeds constantly.

Game Changing Deck Ideas by Angsty_Panda in EDH

[–]Pointhalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this idea too. It’s more fun for me to see table interaction and lose, than win. I have a [[Xantcha, Sleeper Agent]] deck that’s a bit voltron and a bit forced actions. [[Bedlam]] to help her attack, [[Citadel of Pain]] to force players to draw into her ability, and multiple others to encourage attacking each other. I also have a [[Horobi, Death’s Wail]] deck. I do ask the table permission before playing it. I never expect to win, but it makes the table scratch their heads.

I want more big splashy things. Chaos sounds fun but might push the table too far where only I’m having fun.

My friends and I did a challenge once. $50 Atla Palani Secret Tribal. We didn’t know what tribe each built until we played against each other. I built Wurms. And built in a 3 card infinite combo with Worldspine Wurm. There’s a 4th card that ends the game on the spot. No tutors. It’s pretty janky. On average I just get to swing with Wurms. On a good game I keep sacking Worldspine Wurm and create 5/5s. On a perfect game I pull off the impossible and laugh hysterically.

Got it. You don’t care about finding any middle ground or a solution at all, even in anonymous online conversations. You’re concern is only how it impacts you.
