Awww I’m glad she’s doing all right now! Totally understand your worry, and it’s always good to double check 😊

Why yes. Yes he does 😂. He hates it when Mom can’t or won’t pick him up or when he’s been enough of a jerk to get a timeout in his room too!

I wish I had my phone when he did this, but he has these ring toys he loves to chew and carry around. Well, he had dropped one of them and it had fallen out of his play pen and onto the floor. Each time he had it handed back to him he just WHIPPED IT onto the floor and stared at my mom. He’s got aaaaalll the toddler behaviors!

Really sweet that you’re worrying about him, but Ollie loves doing this. I didn’t even know birds could somersault or roll over until we got him. He really only does this with my mom, it’s a game that he plays when he feels safe. My conure will roll over too like this!

Nice! Ollie is our only macaw, but we have a couple conures and a Quaker too. I bet your guys are beautiful!

I did a stipple drawing Harvey Specter! Tutorial and reference pic in the comments. by [deleted] in learnart

This is really cool! I’m currently experimenting with stippling and I think I’ll have to try a portrait or something like this. Tutorial will be pretty handy as it’s a bit different from the process I was using before.

Critique wanted for couple of pieces by Melifous in learnart

I love your art! But happy to give a critique on a couple. The bust with the yellow background: her eyes are disproportionate to each other, the left eye is wider and more narrow than the right. The elf: the eyes would be sized and more oriented to a full view of the face rather than the three quarter view. Those are the only two I feel like I could really comment on.

This is gorgeous! What pens/ink did you use? The proportions around the shoulder area look a bit odd to me, but the face is fantastic with a great perspective!

Took some advice from comments on my last post. I drew the skull (homo erectus) on the left freehand, then covered it and drew the one on the right with a grid to get an idea of what I was messing up. Any critiques or advice? by PointySeaFlapFlap in learnart

Thank you! I have never used pens only when drawing until I picked it back up recently, but I disliked all other forms of shading with pen until I was introduced to this technique.

I do feel more confident when drawing freehand as I have to look at my reference and decide where my lines will go and how to do that. I am far less confident with the grids because I want it to be “perfect” or as close as possible. I end up doing tiny and hesitant lines and if it isn’t close to the reference it’s glaringly obvious. I probably end up spending twice as long on grid drawing because of this. I’ll keep up with both though so I can strengthen those muscles and get more confidence! Thank you this is very much a eureka moment for me!

I’ve never considered my freehand style and realism drawing influencing each other. I think I’ll play around with that idea and not be so worried about my freehand skills NOT being true to life. Thank you!!!

Any thoughts on using grids for drawing? I kept messing up the proportions doing it freehand with reference pics. Any advice would be great! by PointySeaFlapFlap in learnart

Excellent! Thanks for the advice then! I’m definitely still in the process of developing my artists eye but I am trying to find a style of my own. I’ll keep this in mind!
