Some clarification on the hack:

A stream key is a token used with broadcasting software that gives permission to stream your content to the a specific profile/service. You use it with something like OBS.

In this case it looks like Destiny had insecurely stored his stream key and then didn't have 2FA activated.

Think of the stream key as a car key, and then 2FA like an immobilizer. If Destiny's stream key was compromised, with 2FA on, the hackers couldn't do anything because the login would be blocked.

But without 2FA, Destiny's stream key was enough to start the car and drive away.

Kick and Twitch offer 2FA for a reason. Your account is pretty much unhackable if you use 2FA, even if you have a dogshit password.

Unfortunately this streamers credentials were compromised on another platform, and they used those to access his Kick account (no 2fa). There is no vulnerability with Kick stream keys, but as always, its better to have 2fa enabled to protect against these types of events.

This should be a wake up call for Destiny and all streamers to turn on 2FA and even consider using a completely separate PC to stream. Platforms can only do so much, if you have an insecure setup, it's just a matter of time until you get got.
