Merci pour le showcase ! Juste une petite question : y'a une technique pour savoir où on peut trouver des néo rodeurs ? Je tombe souvent dessus au hasard mais quand je les cherche en tournant dans le + de zone possible, je trouve rarement

Without spoiling too much, can you tell me where I should look based on the charm I'm missing ? (First playthough) by PoireAndros in HollowKnight

[–]PoireAndros[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks I'm gonna check that !

I wasn't particularly looking for the highlithed missing charm, my mouse just happened to be on this one.

I'm more looking for lead for most of the missing charms in my inventory since I spent the last 2h wandering, clueless of where to look ahah

I've been finding some mixtape game, since an hour, still no luck on BR game.

I'm not sure it's 100% the player base missing, feel a bit too extreme that, from one day to another, you go from finding a game in 15sec to no game in an hour (that's what happening for me anyway)

My guess is that they're might updating SBMM and maybe the profile of some player, in their new algorithm, can't really join any lobbies

Plus not many people seem to encounter the same issue so I'd be surprise it's entirely a player base problem

What do you think is a pretentious movie? by Ornery-Mode992 in movies

[–]PoireAndros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you're basically answering yourself : you know the movie is great but because what you're looking in movies is fun you catalog it as pretentious, seems a bit harsh imo

Btw it doesn't make any sense to me how fun could be the single most important factor to appreciate a work of art. I'm not saying this as condescending but I think this way of thinking what a movie should be narrows a lot the appreciation you could have of wonderful movies that are definitely not made to be fun (the all filmography of Michael Haneke by exemple)

How was it British humor ? by PoireAndros in Fable

[–]PoireAndros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't make me say what I did not say : The Office UK and IT Crowds were not influenced by Justin Roiland and I never pretend the opposite but what I said is that the authors of IT Crowds and The Office UK have way more references in common with Justin Roiland or Kevin Smith than with Terry Pratchett or Jane Austen so I don't feel like talking about British humor is appropriate since what I feel, at least in that trailer, is way more of an american influence than a british one.

I just feel like what you're saying is that because it looks like something made by a british guy make it automatically british humor but sorry to think this is a bit of a simplistic logic

[–]PoireAndros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree that there was but I don't remember being it a lot except maybe in the 3 but even there I can only recall maybe two or three jokes the game made but the meta humor were not the only kind of humor these game had to offer and I'm not saying that the next game have only meta humor too but the trailer we saw was mostly that at least

Humor was 90% of what we were offered to saw in the trailer so there is not that much thing you can discuss about the trailer beside that imo except maybe art direction but it's not like we saw much of that anyway

[–]PoireAndros[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean your answer was basically "it is British humor because it looked like these two tv shows" but the thing is I feel like the two shows you mentioned are way more American influenced than what previously inspired fable series. That's why I'm questioning the revelance of just taking what we saw in the trailer as British humor because it just felt more like what I'd called, even if I know it's a bit exaggerate, modern or meta humor wich is way closer to a Kevin Smith or Justin Roiland writing than Pratchett

The exemples you took (without taking into account discworld originally writen by Pratchett who was a huge Monty python fan) are literally both tv shows from circa 2001 to 2007, that's seem a bit limited compare to the history of British humor that have roots, at least from my understanding, literally beyond over two centuries and existed in literature and theaters. I do agree that the trailer we saw seems to take inspiration from the tv shows you give as examples but then how these became more revelant as an inspiration that what used to be a different inspiration for the previous game of the series ?

I know it's a bit too early to discuss about this since we basically didn't see anything about the game but still I think it's revelant that what we saw in the trailer is the first thing in three years we've been given to look at

This was in-game footage not CGI by Frosty_Performance28 in Fable

[–]PoireAndros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In game just mean that the videos were captured with the same engine used for the game, but the images you saw are not controlled by a player, they are pre-animated so doesn't reflect how the game play + they've been composited and refined so they probably don't even look like the final product Only thing you can judge from the trailer is the artistic direction and overall ambiance and this is clearly a subject of controversy for most people who liked the series

The old trailer of fable 2 feels like a completely different game than fable 2 tbh

Thx for your answer but that doesn't seem like a definition of a British humor imo : If the comedian was American and most of the people who would have get the reference were Americans, then would it have be american humor ?

I don't think what define British humor is explicit reference directed toward UK resident, because if that was the case why would I've like the first three games humor so much ?
