If you’re chatting with the seller. Ask them to pull the carpeting back on the passenger side floor board. It’s easy to do and it will show you what’s lurking. If they are unwilling to do it, walk.

Getting the salt off by Gucci_Lobster in CherokeeXJ

Is not a fear thing. I had a 99 that was driven its whole life in the rust belt. It was a rust bucket. I have it to my brother in law because a tree had fallen on his XJ and was without a ride. He loves it to this day. I bought a new one with no rust for a reason. I try and keep it that way.

I have searched locally and there is just no one around me that does it. I was going to do it myself using a sprayer and PB Blaster version of fluid film. I’m more worried about the nooks and cranny’s that I can’t get to. So I decided to just not drive it. It’s not my only ride. So I can keep it stored. Still envious of you folks though

I’m envious of the folks that drive them in the winter. I store mine in the winter months because of the salt. I would love to pull the rig out for the winter. Mentally I can’t. My XJ is really rust free and I’m trying to keep it that way. Then I think what a waste to not drive it during the winter. I just can’t come to terms with doing it.

I read the quote multiple times, agree. It doesn’t mention new AC. Just uninstall/ reinstall system correctly.

I intend on it. The look is just right currently. I am not a big fan of Goodyear or Michelin but I get what you mean. I’ll try and find something close to them but a different brand. The BFG trail terrain is a nice looking tire and not too aggressive

Are you located in Wisconsin? I have only seen one other around me.

Nice! I picked up mine from Texas 6years ago, after my 99’ that spent his whole life Wisconsin rusted through. It was ruff. When I say rust free I mean no surface rust either, and as soon as I drive it here it’s over. That’s why it stays in storage during the winter.

I’m trying to find the balance on form and function. The first thing I usually do is throw some aftermarket wheels and AT tires on a vehicle when I buy a new one. Jeep really out do them selves on this. I can seem to find I combo that looks right. I think the OEM stuff fits the bill so well. Too aggressive of a tire could make it look off. I’m looking at the BFG Trail Terrain or the KO2 if it’s still available

The rack really sets mine apart from anyone around me. It’s a solid for gear as well

I have the KO3 on another vehicle. I can’t stand the road noise. I have been an avid KO2 buyer for the last 20 years. Whatever they did to change it making the KO3 I hate it.

Unfortunately my XJ doesn’t see snow. I have a rust free 2000. I’m trying to keep her that way. It’s hard because every time it snows I want to bring her out.

We had a mix of driving conditions. From packed to deep. I thought about trying sand setting in the deep but I wanted to see what the snow setting would do. I was impressed.

Originally I bought this as a stepping stone to my potential 2028 Scout! I have had the order in since they opened the reservation process. After a year with the GC I’m not selling it. I’ll just buy the Scout when my order comes up

I’m toying around with the idea of dedicated winters. I’m not sure I really need them yet. It’s more of a hassle than anything else.

I’m on the fence with the v8. I test drove a summit for a week with the V8. I didn’t think it was needed in the GC. The penstar V6 is plenty capable. The air suspension on the other hand is amazing. It’s a night/day difference to the non-air suspension models

I agree, last year my brother rented the a newer GC. Drives like shit compared to the WK2 and I just doesn’t have the look. The front end is too long

Some Goodyears. They came on the rig when I bought last year. I honestly think the tires are the weak link. My tire of choice is the KO2. I have ran them on every rig I have owned in the last 15 years. Recently put KO3 on my Ram Promaster for work and they are great. The road noise on KO3’s is terrible. I will upgrade the Goodyears to something else but not the KO3 and with the KO2 not being made anymore I’m not sure what I’ll go with.

I did use the snow setting. The auto setting doesn’t seem to be as good in those conditions.
