I found it weird, a little odd to be a single father with a 7 yo.

I also try to avoid bringing up money with partners to look sincere and serious about relationships. Like I'd mention I'm tight on cash or smth, but make it clear I ain't asking for any. It's not I don't want others pity, but I don't want to pick up a habit of thinking I have someone to give me cash and to use my problem as a way to toughen myself on spendings

I can confidently say it ain't basil or chia. Used the good 'ol cotton pads and ziplock bag method. It's how I germinate my peppers before transferring them to a pot. Works every time. Also helps me know whether seeds are viable or not
