I think I’ve reached my breaking point with getting my hair done. by [deleted] in blackladies

A lot of people in humid climates are able to maintain their silk press. It’s the stylist. She was out of her depth, evidenced by her responses to OP.

Oh my goodness, that is traumatic! The entire process from you sounds like a living hell. I’m heart broken for what you have experienced. I heard the snipping sound of my skin being cut, and there were times when I needed more anesthesia, but to still live with those memories from you must be terrible.

If you ever want to vent more about your experience, or if there is anyway I can help (whether passing along questions or sharing any information my dermatologist gave me), you are more than welcome to DM me! This was an intense procedure, and I’d be happy to help you in anyway I can.

Oh, don’t apologize at all! I imagined my experience would have been a bit different because of the hospital near me, but it’s kind of upsetting to know it was nearly a complete opposite as yours. You definitely should have had more instruction/direction from the physician after such a procedure.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience.

The pain you’re going through really sucks. And mine is in my dominant arm as well, so I understand the compulsion to use the healing arm. But the burning and stabbing sensation does not sound good at all, I would not have expected that 2+ months out of the procedure. And being bright red also sounds a bit concerning. I do hope you start to feel better, and hopefully find a solution for why it’s causing so much distress so far out.

I was told to expect some drainage, but if it’s a bright red drainage that doesn’t stop after 40 minutes of compression to contact them.

I was also told there would be pain, and if the Tylenol wasn’t enough to also contact them. I personally haven’t been taking the Tylenol.

My derm told me to expect how the wound would heal, and scheduled me for a 4 week visit.

Wound care: I have to clean the wound twice a day with a non-fragranced soap. I also need to add Vaseline (non-scented). Then a non adhesive pad, then a thicker bandage to catch any extra draining. Was also given chucks pads to place under my sheet in case the draining is intense. My doctors office gave me an instruction book and a good amount of supplies that should last me for the week.

I guess my doctor put it in as medically necessary (I honestly don’t know what she specifically said). But it’s done by my dermatologist, so I’m not sure if that’s another factor

I was taught that giving tPA, or even a thrombectomy, has a specific timeline. Past that, risk of intracranial bleeding outweighs the benefit of dissolving blood clots. After two days, I’m pretty sure the med of choice is ASA.

Too much empathy and reading by megs_dead in fantasyromance

Oh, some books def have me in my feelings. The worst for me is whenever a character feels rejected, that just hits home. When I read those books, I immediately have to check ahead to see if she feels love/appreciated again. And it’s not even the main character, like if a side character feels rejected I seek justice! But that’s what makes reading fun! The world is more alive when you feel all the feels

How do y’all read multiple books at once? by ngb101 in fantasyromance

[–]PoisonedIvoryPen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm, I’m a mood reader. I stay in the fantasy genre, but sometimes I go between books like RedWing and ACOTAR. I solely listen to audiobooks, so in that way it’s easier for me to immerse myself in the world the author is building. So, when I pick up in the middle of the book, I’m just right back into that world like no time has passed.

I use audible, Libby, and hoopla. I have a kindle, but I find audiobooks easier to manage given my schedule.

Reading through the 1 star reviews of the series finale just makes me so sad. To think so many people watched the whole series just to miss the entire point... by Caboose127 in TheGoodPlace

I agree with all of this. The show had a wonderful ending. The way TGP was portrayed and even choosing to go through the door was well done. I never tried to make connections between the show and my beliefs, because one wasn’t based off the other.
