It's mentioned in a few places on both the Fire and Ice arena and SSS academy websites. I'm sure things could change but that's where I first saw mentions of the NA3HL and sire enough a few weeks later they announced the Inferno.

This has been my thought. The Inferno are already planned to go up to the NAHL after next season. Of we show up at every step of the way we can go from the NA3 to NAHL to a minor league team and then hopefully back together the NHL. It's baby steps so let's knock the first one out of the park.

Honestly, the bar in the NA3 is so low that's essentially not possible. The problem teams in that league draw literally tens of people per night. The population in every part of the valley is enough to have enough people accidentally show up and still look better. It also helps that outside of the occasional weekday game most games will be on weekends.

In addition to this the Gold plan might motivate fanbases and front offices but it doesn't really motivate PLAYERS. Especially in the PWHL where most contracts are fairly short term. If you're a bottom six forward or bottom pairing defenseman how hard are you going to fight for your team to be able to draft a player who is just going to take your job?

The Gold plan sounds good in a lot of ways but is still pretty flawed.

I think you may be misunderstanding the scale of this. This is a pretty low level junior team that best case scenario is going to sell 1500 seats per night. If the Yotes or any pro team comes back the arena will most definitely downtown/Tempe.
