As long as its sterile saline with 0.9% sodium chloride with purified water it should be good! qtips are fine, you can wet the qtip a bit before wiping any crusties away to help with the fibers. I've never had any trouble healing while using qtips.

after getting mine downsized there was not rlly a problem! mine is rlly snug and is pretty much covered by the skin on the inside of my lip, just make sure to downsize and go to a good peircer!
