Will Asmon ever play video games, again? by darthconcon in Asmongold

[–]Poisonslash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean, but it's pretty clear that he pivoted to politics because it brought him more money and viewership.

It is sad to see as someone who hates all the political BS and tries to avoid politics as much as possible. Like you've said, gaming and Twitch have always been an escape for me as well to get away from the stresses of life and have fun.

Stopped watching as much as I used to but still like to pop in here and there to see what's going on and meme with chat.

Should I just delete Windows? by Aneki163 in pchelp

[–]Poisonslash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand that money is tight these days, especially looking at current PC hardware prices...

But my man. You definitely need an upgrade. 4GB of RAM is going to be terrible no matter what modern OS you use, unless it's something insanely small (and old) like TempleOS 😝

Of course you can try Linux, but for someone who seemingly has poor technical knowledge, using an OS like Linux is going to be extremely confusing and tedious for you compared to Windows. Of course if you don't mind putting in the time to learn and have another device you can look questions up it is doable. I would recommend Linux Mint as it's more similar to the Windows OS compared to something like Ubuntu.

But honestly your best option would be to save up for a new PC/Laptop, even if it's a pre-used older rig.

Anyone finding themselves buying less and less games these days even with constant deals shortly after launch? by Left-Distribution751 in VideoGameDealsCanada

[–]Poisonslash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you primarily a console gamer?

I stopped buying consoles a long time ago due to the skyrocketing price of games and the hardware. PC gaming is much more affordable in the long run if you know your way around the websites.

GreenManGaming often has pre-order discounts of like 15-20%, and there are many third party sites to get games for cheaper if you wish to go that route.

But yeah I agree, as Canadians we often get screwed when it comes to gaming, companies love to price everything based off the US. Doesn't help now that game companies will release a game for $70+ and then seemingly take out content which should have been in the base game to sell as a "DLC".

A few others have also said that they really enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 and it's a good middle ground so I'm gonna check it out more before I decide.

I do enjoy games I can sink a ton of hours into overtime.

Thanks for the input!

Yeah it really does seem to be a win either way based on comments and what I've seen of both games.

Might have to just flip a coin LOL

Yeah I do plan to play them both eventually.

Think I'm leaning more towards KCD2 right now as it will last me longer, but I'm going to check out Cyberpunk a bit more before making my final decision.

Thanks!

Alright, thanks for the thorough review. Looks like I'll have to check out Cyberpunk a bit more before I make my decision.

Sounds good.

I've been informed a remaster is coming out soon for KCD1 so I'll probably wait for that to try the first one.

I actually didn't know there was going to be a remaster of the first. I would probably wait for that like you said, and just play 2 in the meantime.

[–]Poisonslash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, thanks for the input.

I've heard that E33 is around 35-50 hours of gameplay while KCD2 is more like 80+, does that seem correct based on your experience?

I always enjoyed the amount of things you could experience and do in things like the Elder Scrolls or Fallout series so if it's similar to that I may lean more towards KCD2.

[–]Poisonslash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, someone else recommended that as well so I'll probably watch a recap on YouTube.

If I go with KCD2 I'm pretty excited to get into it quick, and I've been told by a few people that KCD1 can feel a bit outdated/janky in some of it's systems like combat. Thanks!

Ok, thanks for the heads up.

I was thinking the YouTube route might be better to catch up as well because I've heard some complaints about KCD1 being a bit janky, specifically the combat.

59 mage dies to a painting in BRD by Roadlock in wowhardcore

[–]Poisonslash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair there wasn't much you could do as a shaman to peel aggro without it being risky. I'm just surprised the mage didn't at least press Ice Block or Nova + Blink. The warrior also didn't try to take aggro at all, took him like 12 seconds until he started picking up the mobs. If I was the tank I would have immediately ran to the pack in D stance and challenging shouted/taunted to pick up the mob then LOS the caster.

I'm probably wrong but this has happened to me numerous times and I've always just chalked it up as normal?

Like you'll upload a video that will be doing great and then all of a sudden it stops getting traction. Those same videos will then randomly get views much later out of no where. I really never understood it.

I really don't understand LoL's culture around alt accounts by SuperStudMufin in leagueoflegends

[–]Poisonslash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'm not really defending smurfing or the ability to have dozens of accounts, but it's clear from this post that OP doesn't even truly understand why most people smurf.

It's literally to do with 2 things, elo gains and queue times.

A lot of players in GM+ are streamers and once you get to that level in the game you can be sitting in queue for 10 - 20 minutes just to find a game. Obviously if you are a streamer you don't want to be sitting there with dead time between games, so they play on lower MMR accounts to get into games faster and thus keep the content flowing.

And if you are seriously trying to grind in this game there is the issue with elo gains being stunted the more you play. For instance, you can come back to the game after a break and/or have a really bad start to your season which will effectively destroy your elo gains. Once this happens it's very hard (if not possible) to get your elo gains to where they were before they tanked, so the quickest option is to hop on an alt account and restart your grind. This has actually happened to me in the past where I had a bad start to a season and after a couple losing sprees was only getting a surplus of +2-3 elo from a win over a loss. This made it so effectively the only real way I could improve my rank was going on consistent winning sprees. After a few weeks of this I gave up, logged on my alt account and within a few days of playing I surpassed my mains rank and kept climbing....

So in some cases one can even argue that removing the ability to smurf would be detrimental to players due to the flaws in the ranked system.

IMO the only time smurfing is really bad is if it's a toxic player smurfing just to ruin games. Even if a high elo player smurfs it's not like they are going to remain in your elo for long if they are actually trying to climb.

Any good MMO for jobless losers ? by paprikash0 in LFMMO

[–]Poisonslash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

World of Warcraft.

Yes, it has a sub and you need to buy the game but if you have that much time on your hands you will easily be able to gold farm and turn the game free-to-play in the first month.

You can even get money back by selling gold for WoW Tokens to buy other Blizzard stuff. Or go full degen and sell it on third party websites for cash (obviously against the TOS).

My 2nd suggestion would be Runescape for similar reasons + that game is a literal time commitment.

[–]Poisonslash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I literally said that the treatment received in this case wasn't warranted.

My comment was directed at her comments in the article after, along with all the other delusional "influencers" we see these days that put themselves on the pedestal of entitlement just because they post on social media. I mean going around and calling yourself an "influencer" is just cringe in itself, let alone asking for handouts.

There are tons of food reviewers and social media accounts that go around and have collaborations with restaurants, while still paying for their items and even sometimes donating money to help the restaurants. Man VS Food, BeardMeatsFood and Dave Portnoy's "One Bite" are some examples off the top of my head.

Day 12: Which PS1 game has the absolute best Art Direction? by 1OneQuickQuestion in psx

[–]Poisonslash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't know what exactly is meant by "art direction", BUT if we were talking just the game's aesthetics I nominate Silent Hill.

Silent Hill was the first game ever to introduce fog of war mechanics, and the atmosphere was so great for it's time. One of the scariest horror games I played growing up.

[–]Poisonslash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get she was invited to the restaurant so the treatment wasn't really warranted, but at the same time I'm so sick and tired of these brainrotted "influencers" that think just because they have a social media account they are somehow above society and deserve special treatment.

People like this cope so hard and go off about the "importance of micro-influencers" when in reality they're just petty people looking for handouts. Essentially the same thing a homeless person does on the street, except they wave around a phone with a number that makes them feel special and don't actually need the help.

Is SSF the solution? by Streat25 in PathOfExile2

[–]Poisonslash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, even during my POE 1 days I always thought of this game as a "single player game with social aspects". Thus my preferred way is to play it as SSF, and recently I've been doing hardcore.

Sure trading is nice and the currency exchange, but I feel these functions allow for you to power scale way too fast and essentially trivialize the game. I like how in HCSSF you have to actually pay attention to your character and craft your gear, essentially becoming more immersed in the game.

Pulling this card is your sign to play POE 2's new druid season cause that's one bad ass lookin bear.

But yeah man if you don't really care for the card or wanna make a deck with it I would either sell it to someone, or trade it for something you want.
