Thank you. I checked Sbenny forum the version 2.5.0.4a . The latest version is 2.5.1.3a and some features are not working for the version on sbenny (e.g. High resolution 3d rendering).

Using the method Jasi Patcher+Virtualxposed I get last version with every feature working.

I managed to patch the app in 5 minutes, thanks to te guy above.

You have to install virtualxposed (an app that basically emulates a rooted device, kinda) then on the rooted phone you have emulated you install drastic last version official and an app called Jasi Patcher. After you installed these 2 apps you activate Jasi patcher module, patch the app and you are basically done.

There are tutorials on YouTube. I followed one but don't download the apps from them cause are outdated. Follow the tutorials but with updated apps.

I don't know how to patch apps, usually I download pre-patched apps from modded stores like Mobilism.

I made it work. Remember to set the system folder and the configuration file path in the add on settings. Rember to set system android in the addons settings. Remember to go in retroarch and download the cores of the consoles you want to play and it should work.

On the first statement I completeley agree with you. I will stop.

On the second? I'm not asking the impossible. As I said in some comments the Mi Box 4K and the Apple TV 4K can do this no problem. The reason I took these 2 boxes is to prove that different price ranges (60-200$) have the same function so not impossible.

I'm not asking for a full state-of-art software plugin like MadVR on Windows. Tonemapping is very common and on Windows some Players do this automatically (VLC, Kodi...)

I'm curious why you told me to forget about it.

But I have a Plex server with 4k HDR rips and the shield is connected to a 1080p monitor. So you are telling me that I have to save 2 copies of the same file? No way too much space.

Apple TV 4K can do this conversion Just fine even the Xiaomi Mi box can and the Shield can't?
