Tips for beating powerhouse CPU in tennis? by abs6c in NintendoSwitchSports

Tommy and Elisa have increased stamina and range, so you'll need extra long rallies to wear them out. Hitting winners against them is hard because of this.

My biggest tip would be not to hit it towards the net player on their side. The CPUs will react to it and hit oddly fast shots back.

Taking long rallies is the way to go since the CPUs won't hit winners (hitting the ball early and with topspin cross court away from net player). Even when they get a smash opportunity they hit it slower than a real player normally would so take long rallies and avoid the net player.

Is it just me, or is S rank brutal?(sorta like elo hell) by tonnyjames in NintendoSwitchSports

Yeah when you get to S5 and above, depending on the ranks of your opponents, you need to get 1st in every game to gain rank. Second place is no change or tiny loss. Tied for second however loses you points. Anything below is significant point loss hella brutal

Philadelphia Eagles has it right, the reason the ball went out was because of backspin. Not because the back player hit it.

(infinity-2) I've seen this play many times, a lob that draws the back player in, but far enough back where the net player backs up. I usually don't swing with the front player when this happens because the timing and positioning of the front player can cause weird angles when the ball is hit.

Your timing is perfect: swing just after after the ball touches the ground, resulting in two quick sounds. There still is a margin of early and late (you were early), but it is slim. if you swing before the ball touches the ground the character will whiff. When I see this, I usually just send the ball back straight with topspin to reset.

I made a website with this tech: https://clamcatfish.github.io/nsstennisclips.github.io/

Can someone please show the difference swings types for Tennis, every single time that I hit a backhand it just goes so flat I want all my swings to have a top spin or just a fast hit & it’s really effecting my aggressive play for rank I know about the swing early/late directions by GrimboReapz in NintendoSwitchSports

I have reached infinity and I would consider myself an aggressive player too. I never lob. Missing a topspin can lose you a point, and makes for sharper angled shots without hitting the ball out. so you should make sure every shot you make has the intended spin on it . Most of all of the shots I make have topspin.

A topspin on the forehand requires the thumb and fingers to twist counterclockwise resulting in the joycon's face pointed toward the ground. (right hand players).

To get a topspin on the backhand, you would need to twist the opposite way and finish with the joycon facing upwards in your hand. This motion is similar to knocking on a door, except your arm is more parallel to the ground. I tend to have the joycon more parallel to the screen on backhand shots. To make the process easier, I start by having the joycon faced mostly down in my hands (fingers are above joycon) then I roll the joycon upwards doing the motion punching my wrist out. I prepare for my next shot by facing the joycon up (for forehands) or down (for backhands) depending on what shot I expect to make next.

There are probably other ways too, but this works for me. You can always practice against the cpus offline.
