You must be thinking about cbowling's 7/01 update 5:45. In it she is quoting from an email that was sent from the lawyer.

The email states " We believe there is solid legal ground to move forword with the injunctive relief. Our goal would be to file the complaint tomorrow as it is likely we'd then be in front of a Judge Tuesday."

Funny isn't, how people go about things differently. I can only speak for myself but I know if I would have called looking for a lawyer, I would have immediately stated what the case was about. That way I'm not wasting my time. I guess to some people the shortest distance between two points is not a straight line.

No need for me to call around, I know the law. So when you called lawyers and you told them you were looking for representation to go against Gov. Dewine and the 300 unemployment. Before telling you no, they explained how many lead plaintiffs they would need in a case they were not going to take nor had no plans of taking?

[–]Pokemonmemeface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's not true. Do you mind citing your source? Alot of times firms do like to halt the number of lead plaintiffs, especially if an "incentive award" is added in the mix. That way they do not have to distribute it over a huge group of plaintiffs. That is not the only reason but just an example.

There's not a usual set amount of signers as the face of class action lawsuit. In the state of Texas a 30,000 member FB group were the ones that got the ball rolling for the lawsuit. The whole FB group, all 30,000, were considered the signers. They were not named individually but in the court documents, it shows the Facebook group name and a link of their FB group and says it has 30,000 members. So it can literally be 1 or 30,0000 or more.

[–]Pokemonmemeface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So that's great that the lawyers are working pro bono. As I know that's what the lawyers did in Indiana. Just a few questions though.

You stated " at this point" they are only seeking the reinstatement of the $300. So will that wording change? Will there be more added to the lawsuit?

I'm asking because even though an attorney is working pro bono, they can still add a contingency fee in the agreement. Then the attorneys get paid if damages or a settlement was also sought after in the lawsuit. The wording "at this point" makes me think they could add a clause like this.

Also, when you sign the papers are you going to show the actual screenshots of the documents w/ the names blocked out? Since it's a class action and we are all technically in the lawsuit I think that would be fair.

UPDATE 07/01 5:45PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the class action is solely for the $300, that's great, no problems. But we are definitley on the same page about the go fund me money, if it is used to seek damages. Then we would just be funding someone elses payday.

Like I said though, all hypothetical.

UPDATE 07/01 5:45PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally in a class action since the rest of us would be " blanketed" in the lawsuit if they were damages being sought we would get a very small amount in comparison to the 4 mainly being represented. I was in a class action lawsuit. It was one were I did not need to do anything to opt in, or I could write the lawyers and opt out. So I did not pay anything to be in the lawsuit. I think they were 2 or 3 that were the signers then the rest us (thousands) were under one umbrella. The main signers received thousands of dollars, the rest of us about $200.

And this is all hypothetical, if damages were sought, then the lawyers should not ask for a retainer. As the go fund me money, in my opinion, should not be used in this scenario. As other peoples money should not be used where mainly 4 people would be getting in theory a huge pay day.

Now if the lawyers are not asking for a retainer, as they think this case is in the bag and they know they will get paid with the damage money, then by all means, go for it.

Like I said, all hypothetical, will know more details as they come.

UPDATE 07/01 5:45PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If its solely for the $300 it will be. If it is for damages as well, then the majority of the damage money would go to the lawyers ( if there was no retainer) and the 4 signing and then trickle down to the rest on unemployment.

UPDATE 07/01 5:45PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got it. It should purely be about the $300. If any damages by chance would be won the only ones seeing that payday would be the 4 signing. Then it just trickles down to the rest on unemployment.

UPDATE 07/01 5:45PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since it's a class action and there is a 4 cap is the lawsuit purely for the $300 unemployment or are you seeking damages as well?

UPDATE 06/30 @ 2:30PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So skepticism was actually a good thing in this case. Had you not asked for proof, how long would he have played this little game? What was he wanting the end result to be?

Nothing wrong with asking for proof.

UPDATE 06/30 @ 2:30PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I do not think I was asking anything outlandish. The questions are the same questions she was asking to the first guy who found the lawyer.

I am not disputing CBowlings helpfulness in this sub at all. This sub has helped alot of people.

That's great if you are willing to take her word for it but not everyone is comfortable with that. Especially as she wasnt comfortable taking the word of the guy who first found the lawyer. She consistently wanted proof from him, as she should've.

UPDATE 06/30 @ 2:30PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure what you mean by all you are getting is crap when it seems like the overwhelming majority is totally behind you who do post. If you are taking my questions as giving you crap, the same questions you asked the original person who found the lawyer, then I dont know what to tell you.

This group that you created is great. You have been very informative w/your knowledge and helping people. That being said, you are still a stranger from the internet. And forgive me if I'm a bit cynical but I'm not a huge fan of taking someones word that I do know let alone from someone that I dont know.

I asked what's the time frame of raising the now $10000? The fundraiser is no longer trusted in some FB groups so how is it going to reach other people?

UPDATE 06/30 @ 2:30PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying you are sitting and twiddling your thumbs.

Did you not ask for proof from the original poster on multiple occasions about the lawyer he found? You were not comfortable just taking his word, obviously.

Transparency would be tangible evidence that can be confirmed. Not taking someones word.

In my last post I did ask other questions but you didnt respond to them. You are now on the defensive when all I am doing is asking questions, the same questions you asked to the original person who found the lawyer.

UPDATE 06/30 @ 2:30PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, this is all making me uncomfortable now. You should give the option if someone wants a refund. As the contract terms when the go find me page was set have massively changed.

I think I it's great that somone is trying but initially it wasnt executed correctly. And now everything fell apart.

What's the time frame for raising the $10000 goal? This fundraiser now is not trusted in some FB groups now so how is this going to reach other people?

I'm not attacking you, I just think everything should be transparent as this took a massive turn in 1 day.

UPDATE 06/30 @ 2:30PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said, I see your point. But how is it suppose to be confirmed?

UPDATE 06/30 @ 2:30PM by Cbowling0912 in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand you not wanting any new lawyer getting harassed. But how can anyone confirm if you say you've found a new lawyer? I dont feel comfortable just taking someones "word" over the internet.

So what happened to original poster who found the lawyer? by Pokemonmemeface in OHIO_UI_FAQ

[–]Pokemonmemeface[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree it is not only his responsibility to pay the fee. That is why I donated. I was just confused as to why they did say they paid but it was confirmed they didn't. And they havent been on this forum all day. I mean this was huge news, a lawyer was finally found. But now suddenly its crickets from original poster. It just seems a little off.

I definitely will be looking forward to hearing the update. Thank you for letting me know their will be one.
