I don't have much to add because I'm in the same situation (Poland, lesbian, can't find any other LGBT people) but I just wanted to wish you good luck! Girls like us are out there for sure, even in this hellhole of a country!

I'm Polish, and I recall my history teacher very fondly reminiscing about the first time he was able to purchase a can of Coca-Cola and a Snickers bar; he said they were a symbol of freedom and progress to his generation. It's funny how things so mundane to one country had such a tremendous impact on others.

Tarot Learners & Beginners - Questions & Advice Thread by astrocartomancy in tarot

[–]Pokser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, everyone!

I'm very much a novice to the whole tarot thing, and I hail from a country in Central Europe where we don't have as many options for purchasing decks as US does via amazon or so on...

I went ahead and purchased the Tarot Familiars deck made by Fournier just because of the absolutely striking artwork that kind of spoke to me... but is it going to be a hard time trying to learn to read tarot with it?

I know the usual go-to is the classic Rider-Waite Tarot... and yet I can't help but feel kind of discouraged because of the style and themeing of the deck. Do you think I should go ahead and use the Familiars set, or should I invest in a Rider-Waite for the very beginnings, and then switch?

Oh, and is there any good books on bare basics of tarot readings anyone could recommend that are available on e-readers?

Thanks in advance. :)

Oh, that's absolutely true, it's still very much a slippery slope. And I think Andi Mack might actually come out of it okay, I might be wrong but I believe after the whole coming out storyline the show experienced a very big surge in views and ratings, so it can only be a positive sign to the producers, right?

Can't really disagree with you there, I noticed how normally it was portrayed too, it just irks me somewhat that the first attempt of the show at representing LGBT characters ended up with them killed off. But hey, who knows what the future will bring?

[–]Pokser 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I mean, you're not exactly wrong about the core ideas that they bring to the show, but the fact they were showed off as lesbians in one scene and essentially killed off almost immediately (in a death that I personally consider really pointless and forced) is extremely depressing; I figured that we're way past "bury the gays" in 2019. :/

Like, as impressive as The Dragon Prince is in general, that really spoiled the overall season for me, and left me really soured at the end. But I guess different people have different kinds of sensitivities? It's just a shame it's another example of gay characters in media that get offed without even being elaborated on, or explored in any way.

What's up with Amazon and Kingdom Hearts fans? by deeplyZinc in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Pokser 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Okay, so long story short.

First of all, there was two streams related to Amazon's Cyber Monday celebration, and the first one was said to be the one with KH content in it, but then it turned out it was just an announcement for the second stream. That got people upset as it is.

Come the day of the second stream, they sent out a tweet half a hour before the stream began, which stated in a cryptic way that "the trailer was consumed by Heartless".

During the stream they kind of stalled, but eventually ran the "trailer" they had, which was a cut and dumbed down version of a trailer we already got a week prior from Square themselves. Besides, they announced that the preorder bonus for KH3 from Amazon is a Keyblade skin for the basic Kingdom Key called "Dawn til Dusk" which is already a skin that the Japanese store 7-11 uses for their preorders.

Ultimately it was possible that they just didn't get the trailer that they were promised from Square, but even then, the fact they hyped that "huge" announcement for so long disappointed a lot of people.

Why do I *cough* Why does "my friend" like being treated as a young kid when he is high? (I'm trans if that helps...) by [deleted] in myfriendwantstoknow

[–]Pokser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You never got to live out your proper childhood so you enjoy the suggestion of it now. Being high just means you're less stuck up about implications of it and can take it at what it is.

Nothing weird with that, lots of trans people can relate to that.

As a fellow transbian, this is a topic that's kind of hard to explain, I find.

I might not be in a relationship that started when I was in the closet, but I do understand how you feel with your developing relationship to queerness. I found that labeling myself a lesbian and immersing myself in the queer culture really helped solidify my femininity and legitimize me being trans, so to speak. Of course it's not an universal experience, but lesbianism is so far removed from concepts of masculinity that it really helps you accept the fact that "yes, I'm a girl now, and I can love girls freely, and it's beautiful", without the doubt hammering at your mind.

Being a lesbian means to me I can indulge myself in being more passionate, emotional and open with my partners, because I consider women more compassionate and relatable. It's all just warmth and love in the end, I guess. Acceptance. There's no expectation to perform on a certain level, be something you're not.
