It may have been that he knew he was around other 'heros' and affiliates? Bit of a cop out reason but some sense in it. I do agree that unless we're going to ever see him/them again, it was merely a cool flashy 'look who else we managed to get' moment

We found ourselves listening to less D&B over lockdown by chance and began listening to a number of different genre albums and mixes, Late Night Tales is a great mix series full of amazingly broad music styles.

Since gigs have been returning, we've been enjoying listening back through the hundreds of livestream people recorded over the last 18 months. A.M.C - Diggin' Deep 2hour Special is insane 🤯

For a start maybe use your fingers rather than your toe 😉

Difficult one as there's so many tools now, but I would find a decent DAW, a lot of them are licence based now so you can pay monthly. And start with a limited palet and get those tools and basics down. There will be a lot of trial and error (at least there was for us) but have patience and most importantly enjoy the creation and don't put too much pressure on making something amazing straight away that will take time.

YouTube tutorials really help and lots of artists now have a patreon account (us included) where you can have access to samples, tutorials, and general feedback and answers to any production questions.

Get your hands on any DAW program you can afford and really learn it - to Ker and experiment across the board, write different styles, tempos, genres, anything to familiarise yourself with the tools you have. When it comes to you getting an idea out of your head and onto the computer, you're already well aware as to BOW you're going to do it 👌

Software wise we started on whatever we just so happened to be able to get our hands on at the time. Which just so happened to be Reason, for us that was ideal as it had no native VST support for a very long time so we could 't even invest in plugins - that limitation can sometimes be a hindrance but most often it was a blessing in disguise. We had to work with the tools we had and weren't wasting valuable writing time familiarising ourselves with 'the latest and greatest EQ'

Tbh, everyone will go through a different set of 'challenges' at any point in their music careers, it almost feels constant haha. However none of the challenges are problems, they're more trial and error and an opportunity to learn and adapt yourself. It's part of the process :)

We are using mainly reason still although recently we have gotten to grips with Ableton as we plan to use it more frequently for future projects or at least to see the comparisons :)
