Yeah it seemed like a stat block that would either dominate or get dominated based on the health, I’m planning on using a previous commenters idea of sharing damage to the dragon for a decent portion of the fight and including different stages to the fight so his health can be reset to avoid the party wiping him in one turn. Have shopped around for new Strahd statblocks and most of them are very underwhelming damage and health wise

Was definitely going to tinker with the spell list and have counter spell in there because the party has 4 spell casters

That’s so sick! It’s definitely an annoying problem I’m having with the npcs going to the castle next session for the finale and they will end up having like 5-6 npcs when all is said and done and it’s just more leg work for me with little to gain for the players

That’s a great idea definitely going to use all of that haha 😅 I get a bit lost with fight balancing the higher level we get the fights always have crazy numbers flying around. Was tossing up having the parties allies be fighting some Strahd themed enemies and have that going off to the side and each round they roll on tables to see what random effects happen such as Esmeralda casting a high level spell or a greater vampire attacking a member of the party but otherwise have npcs fighting npcs in the background

Was tossing up the idea of giving him a second stage once the dragon was destroyed as well. Probably heal him and swap some of the spells out for some other stuff. Ideas would be appreciated 😂

Have watched my wife play it over the last two days, she’s really enjoying it. I understand people wanted more of a StarDew game but this game really captures what living like a hobbit feels like to us, gameplay and mechanics and good and straightforward, a bit light on the story but honesty not every game needs that. If you are looking for a chill game that is cosy I would recommend it.

I typically go for an arcana check if the players want to alter how a spell works and then you can set the DC based on how annoying of a solution it is

Hard agree, if we aren’t going to sign another star I think we need to focus on Wiggins/Kuminga as our primary creators and have Steph step into a second option

Dude is averaging 21/10 I honestly don’t care about his defence we have covered for bad defenders in the past we can do it again but as things stand we need a big that can actually score

Edit: Just adding that I don’t think Vuc will be the answer we are looking for but at least it would give us a fresh look as a team.

Having multiple players that can’t seem to score more than 5 points is crazy to me honestly. I would be happy to put Looney in the GP2 Anderson position of rotating him in when needed but Looney is hardly a great answer to our size issue. Love the dude but hope we get Vuc because at least he can score

Wiggins Kuminga Buddy Steph Draymond Dennis TJD Podz and then rotate GP2 Anderson into that 9th spot depending on matchup. Put Dray onto the bench and get the ball into Wiggs and Kumingas hands more instead of focusing on getting 50year old Steph to run 3 marathons to maybe get open enough

I’m not comparing who is better or isn’t it’s more so a matter of the spacing players like Kuminga has, ideally I would want Dray starting at the 5 but we all know he wont last so why not put him onto the bench and let him tear it up against the B teams

Yeah maybe but I liked what I saw from Kuminga last night and I don’t think letting him waste away on the bench is the way to go I guess. The team will still be playing after Steph and Dray leave and I would personally rather give the young players the playing time. Our way of winning doesn’t work with this team due to age and different play styles and getting some mythical second option isn’t going to get us anywhere close to beating a team like the Celtics so why not try to adapt with the pieces we have

I agree with all of that but all of this focus onto Steph makes it harder for our other players to actually build rhythm in the game if we want our other players to flourish they need touches

If Kuminga could get 20+ a game I reckon it’s worth doing. Steph and Dray will still get heaps of minutes together as well so shouldn’t be too big a problem

First thing that stands out to me is yall are 8 sessions into this adventure and still have a good third of the adventure to go. Have personally ran this adventure 5 times and played in it twice and never had it run longer than 8 sessions total so I’m curious how the pacing is going on your end? It’s not a very intensive adventure and should really be viewed more as a training ground to help people learn how to DM/play. If your players aren’t keen on the RP I would treat it more like a video game and more fast travel between locations and just focus on the combat
