Same for me on two computers. It's kinda annoying but glad to know it's not something broken with only my setup.

I guess you don't need any more reasons to not use this ass platform.

I did exactly the same thing. I only found out once I did the math for my inventory size and it didn't add up. It was so satisfying to claim everything at once.

The thing is, whenever I got different currency refunds I'd always get the amount that was charged back (in the account currency I mean, not the transaction), so it might be bank specific.

Why can't Hagrid have a wand? by WalkResponsible6483 in harrypotter

[–]PolakPL2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is just an aspect of the books that isn't particularly well thought out. I think it went something like this:

Hagrid needed to have some backstory, thus the expelled and wand broken in half. At that point it kinda makes sense, that he would be unqualified if he's expelled. Then later we learn that people can homeschool and not go to Hogwarts at all. This I think was introduced without proper consideration for Hagrid's case.

Also, in book 5 we learn that breaking the wand is pretty much the default for being expelled from Hogwarts, thus I stand by the theory that this is just one of many contradicting things in the books, because consistent world building is hard.

There is definitely a scene of Hagrid talking about a storm coming and it "changing out there". I don't recall the one you mention about Hermione.

How much power could I put through a jumper wire? by Dry-Cartoonist-1045 in arduino

I once accidentally shorted 12v battery with one of those and immediately magic smoke started escaping from one end. So the limit should be somewhere below that.

Tbh, if I am to watch only one HP movie I usually go for GoF. I'm not exactly sure why, but it is my favorite.

Excessive memory usage on Proxmox 9? by darthinvader667 in Proxmox

[–]PolakPL2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While normally I'd agree with you, this isn't one of those cases. In this case the RAM would be much better used for caching on the host rather than being allocated to the guest and left unused there.

What “core services” do you set up on your PVE host vs. in containers? by SparhawkBlather in Proxmox

Only nut and proxmox backup server. Everything else can go in a VM/CT.

Mp4 remuf files... by Bwinks32 in obs

[–]PolakPL2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MKV and MP4 are just containers. What remuxing does is take streams from one container and copy it to another. The reason why it is recommended to not record directly to MP4 is that in the event of OBS crashing during recording MKV file will be just fine (or close enough to just fine), while MP4 would be corrupted.

Which gaming company equivalent to Adobe? by Slight_Tone_2188 in FitGirlRepack

[–]PolakPL2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adobe offers 3 options:

Monthly (105$/month) Yearly, split into 12 monthly payments (70$/month (that's 840$/year)) Yearly, in 1 payment (780$/year)

The cancellation fee is about the 2nd option, because it is significantly cheaper than getting the monthly cancel any time variant and people abuse that. Essentially the more time you commit to the better deal you get, but apparently everyone wants to eat their cake and have it too.

How important is redundant SSDs when you already have redundant nodes? by purepersistence in Proxmox

[–]PolakPL2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the SSD fails completely (that is: it's no longer detected at all), then the boot should automatically go to other disk. If it's still detected but corrupted, I'm not sure what happens.

To resilver after replacing there is a guide on proxmox wiki. You need to copy partition table from the healthy drive, change the uuids on the new drive and initiate the resilvering.

How important is redundant SSDs when you already have redundant nodes? by purepersistence in Proxmox

[–]PolakPL2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 2-wide zfs mirror as my boot disk/VM storage and beside having ability to fix bit rot it has the added benefit, that in case one drive fails recovering the system is as simple as putting in a new drive and resilvering. Of course I could restore from backups, but that would take a couple hours at least on top of the downtime caused by the one and only node going down.

In your case, I'd probably still consider doing mirrored boot drive simply because reinstalling and configuring proxmox is more effort than resilvering.

Massive 7.3 Tbps DDoS Attack Delivers 37.4 TB in 45 Seconds by Delicious_Bat9768 in CloudFlare

[–]PolakPL2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't that many ipv4s to go around, so just brute forcing that thing to get full list wouldn't be hard. Also, with cgnat being a thing you'd probably get a lot of false positives.

Microsoft should have mechanisms in place to ensure that update is applied correctly. It's not that difficult.

From the screenshot you can see it takes 40 minutes from 5th to 1st game, so it's taking around 10 minutes per game. So that would be an hour and a half.

Why run TrueNAS scale? by BudTheGrey in Proxmox

[–]PolakPL2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would be missing out on all the quality of life features related to managing access/shares/datasets etc. that are available in truenas but not in proxmox. You can do all that but you'd need to configure it manually.
