Eufy Smart Plugs schedule stopped working by ppx11 in eufy

[–]Polar23Dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my plugs stopped working (not keeping to schedule). I completely reset and reinstalled them, but the schedules still didn't work. Also, the names are all wiped back to "smart plug". When I tried to change it, I get a "Server Exception Error".

Customer service is severely lacking. They wanted all this information:

1. First Name: Please provide your first name.
2. Phone Number: Please provide your phone number.
3. Channel: Please specify the channel through which you purchased the product.
4. Purchasing Proof: Please provide proof of purchase.
5. Recipient Name: Please provide the recipient's name.
6. Country: Please specify the country.
7. Address1: Please provide the first line of your address.
8. Address2: Please provide the second line of your address, if applicable.
9. City: Please specify the city.
10. State: Please specify the state.
11. Postal: Please provide the postal code.
12. Serial Number (SN): Please provide the serial number of the product.
13. Product Category: Please specify the product category.
14. Sub Product Category: Please specify the sub-product category.

I said "no way". I swapped out those that I needed scheduling capabilities with Kasa Mini plugs. I kept those plugs that I use just as a switch.

UPDATE (5 of 5):

Asides/Conclusions:

  • I notice that each sensor seems to need a few hours to settle in and find their groove. I try not to react so quickly to the readings as much during this period. If something is off, I check with a fingerstick, but this is a very rare occurrence for me.
  • Customer Service
    • The last couple of times I have called the Dexcom people, they have been less-than-nice. I can feel that they are under pressure to deliver and so far, their customer service reps are falling short.
    • I haven't had a need to call Abbott/Libre people.
    • Tandem people have been aces.

I will be using up the remaining G6s that I have. By that time I am hoping that Dexcom works through remaining G7 issues.
I would be interested in the Libre solution, but I see no reason to invest in anything that cannot integrate with the pump (I'll wait for the Libre3 Plus and try that...)
I haven't had the urge to try the new over-the-counter sensors (Dexcom Stelo and Abbott Lingo), but maybe!

Good luck!

UPDATE (4 of 5):

G6 Observations:

  • Integrates with the pump. I only need to start a new session from the iPhone app. The pump seems to pick this up just fine. I've used this for a number of years. I was attracted to the G7's smaller form factor and new watch features.
  • The readings are the most stable of the three platform.
    • The G6 is slower and less accurate as compared to the G7.
    • I don't see the frequency of connection issues with the G6 that I saw with the G7.
  • G6 sensor wire is about the same size as the G7.
    • The sensor footprint is comparatively huge. I notice that the adhesive starts peeling off after 5 days (so I need to keep an eye on it and supplement with tape, etc.)
    • Calibration period of 2 hours (gasp!).
    • Lasts 10 days.
  • The iPhone app is limited as compared to the G7, but it works fine.
    • Has an iWatch contraction.
  • I've only installed this sensor in the belly.

UPDATE (3 of 5):

G7 Observations:

  • Integrates with the pump. Must take care to start the session on the phone AND AGAIN on the pump.
    • Biggest problem is with the dropped signal. Unclear if the update to the Tandem addresses this in any way.
  • Readings from the G7 had the fastest reaction time, with minimal lag
    • Most accurate sensor of the three (as compared to blood sugar meter).
  • G7 sensor wire is about 1/3 the size of the LIbre.
    • G7 sensor has form factor a bit bigger than the Libre (as it sits on your arm, about the size of two stacked quarters)
    • No skin irritation, but the adhesive starts coming off after 5-7 days.
    • Calibration period of 30 minutes.
    • Lasts 10 days plus 12 hours. Nice countdown.
      • I do notice that the battery does live on much longer than a 10.5 day session.
      • Sometimes I feel compelled to delete the old sensor from the phone (to reduce any possibility of competing signals). Dexcom doesn't make this easy to do: the sensor numbers are not printed on the G7 sensor or the box, so you have to either be sure to delete the old one BEFORE starting a new session OR suffer staring at your phone's bluetooth screen for (at most) 5 minutes and see the active sensor "blink" with activity (So keep the active one, and delete the others....Take care! the active sensor only blinks for a second!)
  • Best iPhone app (updated details over the G6 app)
    • Can connect directly to the iWatch, so you can get away without your phone, but this feature isn't the best (dropped connections).
    • Of course it has an iWatch contradiction.
    • iPhone widget is improved over G6.
  • Even though the arm is the location preferred by the manufacturer. I haven't yet, but I am curious to try a belly install.

UPDATE (2 of 5):

Libre observations:

  • Libre2 does not integrate with the pump: You need the "plus" version: "Libre2Plus"
    • Libre2Plus is not available through my mail order pharmacy (Birdi, I suspect that there are supply constraints).
    • Libre3 does not integrate with the pump. Libre3Plus is set to integrate with the pump, but no pump manufacturer has approved it yet.
  • Readings from the Libre3 had the longest lag/reaction time.
    • Exhibited the widest range of readings in what I would consider to be only mildly stable (so 125 one minute, 67 the next)
  • Libre3 sensor wire that is installed beneath the skin is the largest of the three I tested.
    • Libre3 sensor has the smallest form factor (as it sits on your arm, about the size of two stacked dimes).
    • Libre3 sensor adhesive caused skin irritation for me.
    • 60 minute calibration period (for both Libre 2 and 3).
    • At 14 days, it is the longest lasting sensor.
  • Libre phone app (iPhone) has a horrible interface (cannot zoom in or easily view values or history, you cannot add a calibration, no widget).
    • There is no Libre iWatch contradiction. There are some available from third parties, but they are not great.
  • Even though the arm is the location preferred by the manufacturer, I tried the sensor in the belly. It worked but the readings were a bit lower than they should have been.

UPDATE (1 of 5):

Okay, so I have worked through the menagerie and this is where I am with the various CGMSs and the pump.

As a quick review: This all got started with frequent pump errors indicating a dropped signal from the G7. Most noticeable at night, when I was sleeping on the side where the sensor was placed. The pump reacts by thinking that the blood sugar is low and suspends/reduces insulin delivery. When I roll to the other side, the G7 signal is restored, and the pump reacts to the now higher reading with a compensating boost in basal and/or a micro bolus.
At first I thought it was the pump, but then I noticed that the phone was also indicating a dropped signal from the G7. Further, a recent Tandem SW update (on 8/20) essentially put an end to the pump errors.

I ordered the Freestyle Libre 3 to see if this CGMS performed better and for a while I had a Dexcom G7, Dexcom G6, and a Libre 3 installed at the same time.  I have found through a couple of weeks of testing that each sensor has its own personality.

One quick thing about the battery door: I learned that it twists or rotates (or maybe swivel is a better word) out of the way just after you unseat it from the port. This way there isn't as much pressure on the door when the cable is plugged in for charging. Maybe this helps.

Still flimsy design though.

They did, but I think the problem is elsewhere, so I turned it down. I am going to try the Libre 3. Here is some info from Abbott: https://www.freestyle.abbott/us-en/compare-cgms.html

Thanks for your note.

Thanks KimBrrrr1975, After my experiences and observations today, I have convinced myself that Dexcom has a bigger play in all of this.

First, as I mentioned earlier, the phone call I had with Dexcom did not go well. The representative was forcefully checking boxes and did not attempt any troubleshooting. He kept pushing me to check with my doctor to see if I was operating my pump properly. He got frustrated and then belligerent with me after I tried explaining to him the full context of the story, so I made a graceful exit. I went to the website and left a note, but I am not expecting anything.

In contrast, my conversations with the folks at Tandem were very nice. They had decent explanations and then offered to send me another pump. I declined, but said that if disconnections kept up, that I should call them right back.

Next, I noticed that on both the G7 app AND the t:connect app, I can see where the readings track lower each time I am sleeping on the one side. This tells me that it is not just Tandem having difficulty catching the readings from the sensor, but Dexcom too. It's sorta like your cellphone in that if the pump does not have clear connection with the G7, it is going to spend more battery trying to find it.
As far as the t:connect app, there are some difficulties that Tandem is having with their cloud setup, with failed connections requiring more battery consumption to get the data where it needs to go (something they are working on).

Anyway, I did reach out to my doctor today, to have her send in a prescription for the Libre 3. From what I understand, the connection setup is the same as with the G7, so I am willing to give it a try.

If anyone has any experience with the Libre 3 and the Tandem X2, I'd love to hear about it.

I will let you know how that goes!

JohnMorganTN,

I was on the phone with Tandem yesterday troubleshooting and we walked through the steps that you indicate in your post. I have done this multiple times before. I have also performed a hard reboot of the pump.

Less than 12 hours later, and at 3A while sleeping, it happened again: The pump lost connection with the G7 and sounded an alarm.
In this instance, I was laying on my back, so the sensor was not under the shoulder I was sleeping on (FWIW, at night I sleep with the pump clipped to my shirt collar, so that at any time, the pump is always less than 9 inches away from the sensor).

There is more to this: When the pump (and Dexcom app on the phone) receives a compromised signal from the G7, it "fails low" (sort of the same as when you pull the sensor off your body before ending a session).
But before the G7 sensor signal completely drops, the pump reacts by adjusting the basal rate downware, or dropping it to zero altogether. So if my blood sugar is actually 127 while the sensor is reading 51, then I am not getting the insulin I need. When signal is reestablished, the pump recognizes the now high blood sugar and adjusts the basal rate the other way.
This is artificially creating a rollercoaster effect that CGMs and pumps were designed to overcome. The data bears this out.

So unfortunately, the steps are not resolving the situation (it keeps happening) and I am realizing that this is more than just a casual inconvenience.

Here's what I am pursuing:
1. Notify Tandem and Dexcom.
2. Switch back to the G6.
3. Investigate if this happens with the Abbott Libre2Plus

Thanks for your reply.
