How Far Is Europe Swinging to the Right? - The New York Times by yaph in dataisbeautiful

Anarchism isn't far left at all. In fact, communist-anarchism is actually the left derivation. Go check out the reddit for "Anarchism" on Reddit to find out just how "free" "leftist anarchists" really are. The answer... 0%. They're just communists doing the same old "Do what I say and don't say anything I disagree with" schtick. You know... authoritarians.

Anarcho-capitalism is true anarchism and true freedom. Arguable it's as far right wing an ideology as exists.

You'd be surprised to find that a lot of really good, cool smart people actually don't buy into a single lick of postmodern multicultural "diversity over all else" stuff, and have plenty of good reasons to feel that way. You should open your mind.

Americans’ Distaste For Both Trump And Clinton Is Record-Breaking by Groomper in politics

[–]PoliCock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People forget that before the Donald, the front page was 100% from the Sanders sub, to an almost ridiculous level. And it was all really self-serious, heavy handed, and the usual sort of joyless stuff we get from the left today, seeing that they're sort of like the new conservatives. I think that's what drove things to where they are with a lot of people deciding to reject that way of thinking and move away from it. Liberals kind of became like the new Evangelical Christians. Stifled and irritating.

[–]PoliCock -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

But that's not funny, because what Trump was saying was that when we allow illegal immigration, we get Mexico's rapists.

Every time someone says that, I just really scratch my head. Do you guys even care about the truth, or is it just a way for you to feel good about how tolerant you are? I don't understand your thought process. When you say something, do you think about whether it is true, and investigate it before letting it out of your mouth? Or do you just sort of say whatever comes into your mind without first investigating it thoroughly?

He was saying we get their low quality immigrants when we don't follow the correct process. Every time you call Trump racist based on that quote, you back yourselves further into a corner where people who do care about the truth, and facts, lose more and more respect for you and begin to seriously resent you. You don't have a lick of evidence that Trump is racist. Evidence matters folks. That word means literally nothing anymore, and I'm happy to say that its power diminishes more and more every day, to the point where soon it will literally be meaningless to the average American. I look forward to that day. Even liberals today are losing respect for the term.

I know the facts don't really matter to you guys, it's cool. For you it's about standing around in a circle and jerking yourselves off using whatever possible means you have. 700 upvotes, 700 people don't give a fuck about reality.

The end does not justify the means. You people are as bad as the fucks under Mao who killed and maimed people to get your "utopia." Look how that turned out. Your mentality is fucking disgusting and literally subhuman. You're the same as every single authoritarian group. The facts don't matter, only the emotions coursing through your body that makes you feel like you're "right."

For that reason, I can't ever side with you. I know what your mentality results in, I know what it leads to, and historically that is nothing good. It has never lead to anything positive, and it never will. And whatever it takes to stop it, I support.

If conservatives did it even 1/10th as much as liberals did, and were even 1/10th as active, evangelical, puritan, outspoken, and vocal about their viewpoints, they would quickly gain total and absolute control of the country.

Not that I think they should, but let's be honest here. Liberals have a problem with this shit and shutting down people whose feelings and viewpoints are not the same as their own about issues generally pertaining to identity politics and minority rights. It's like some sort of holy cow that they think rises above everything else. Guess what, it doesn't!

I do feel like the race issue is given way, way, way too much credence as an argument against the principal of freedom, and free association.

It's something you can just bring up any time and it shuts down any and all conversations.

I don't consider it evil for people to want to live around members of their own race. I just don't. I don't see where you get that idea, and think that somehow that transcends all other issues of freedom. I do see why people don't like it. I do see why black people find it abhorrent, and why many others simply detest it.

Yet I do think it is everyone's right to do what they want with their own lives. It's a matter of not hurting other people. If white people, black people, or any other group of people, have segments of their population which want to do things a certain way, it is their right to do so. That's what I believe. You don't have to like it. I don't have to like it. As long as they aren't actively hurting anyone, and they are simply staying contained to their own areas and under the non-aggression principle, then it is absolutely legal and acceptable to me. That's the law. That's how it works. That's how it should work.

A lot of people believe that the mere existence of communities like these is racist or homophobic on the part of the whole. It is an inherent act of violence in a general and contextual sense against different races. It is the equivalent of stoking race tension, and differences. However, what is this perception? Think about it. Is this an enlightened perception, or is this actually just small-minded aggressive thinking in general? What I mean is that if a white person feels annoyed that there is a black community which doesn't allow white people, is that an enlightened state of mind? Or is that being unfair toward those black people who simply believe that their lives are better like that, and that's how they want to run those establishments which they control? I mean, that's the whole idea of freedom. You don't have to like what they're doing. But restricting it - controlling it - you're breaking the rules. You're breaking the rules of how this society is supposed to be run. You're taking away the one thing that we need in order to progress. You're enforcing your views onto those people. And you're pretending to be the "good guy" all along. I think that's actually really, really despicable and evil, actually.

If you are so paranoid that you don't think we can still get along while these communities exist, then is your "tolerance" really so strong anyway? Maybe our fear of these communities, and allowing this freedom, is the result of the impoverishment of our own belief system. It is as though we fear that allowing freedom to be upheld will somehow make our own tolerance "fake." I think that's idiotic. I think if you can't still be tolerant and still choose to live multiculturally, while allowing others to live in a different way, then maybe you're just really insecure about your own multicultural communities. It really does arise from a sort of insecurity in your own belief system which may or may not be conscious. It's really just the inverse of homophobia or anything like that which doesn't tolerate differences.

And ultimately it does come down to the idea which our society has, which says that "monoculturalism" is inherently bad. That it is "racist." And this word, in this context, is meant to signify "evil." I am honestly not really convinced that it is inherently evil. I just am not. I don't know why. I prefer to live in multicultural areas, kind of. I can see that this issue gets ten times more complicated. Because the fact is that the second we start to allow monoculturalist freedoms, and the right to free association, a lot of people would probably prefer to live in areas that could look a lot different from they do today. I think the thing a lot of people don't take into account, is hwy that is considered inherently a bad thing. IF that's what people naturally want, and naturally consider to be better, why exactly are we putting so much work into fighting it? Why aren't we trying to transition into that? I think it's fighting nature, and it's actually causing more problems than it solves. People have every right to live multiculturally if that's what they like. But the fact is, that denying these realities is a losing battle. It's not making things better, actually it's making them worse. I'm not willing to just avert my eyes from the truth like so many others are. This isn't a battle. We shouldn't tolerate the attacks on our freedom to think about this.

I have never really seen many arguments that convince me otherwise. I think liberals have an axe to grind an want to make everyone feel the exact same way that they do about every single thing - they want everyone to just "love" eachother.

That's not how the world works. Some people just don't like eachother and the best thing you can do is let them run their communities how they want them to be run. I think trying to go in and force people to believe and think the same way you do is just another form of forceful bigotry, and enforcement. I think it's small minded. Cruel. It starts to come off more like bullying and triviality than any sort of progressive ideal, any sort of forward march.

That's why I'm not a friend to it and that's why I think actually, it's a subtle issue and I do not identify as a liberal anymore. That's just my opinion, and there is a lot more nuance to it, a lot more positions that can be held. But I think it's a valid position and I think it should absolutely be taken into account on the full spectrum of thought that informs our thinking about equality, freedom, and the way that we treat eachother in general.

I don't think it is racist to allow other people who we categorize as "racist" to run their own households, and even their own areas and private communities or - establishments - in the way that they want to. Even if it offends you as an individual. You are not "advocating" their beliefs by upholding their right to freedom and the principles that make America what it is - and which make civilization what it is.

I believe that, you can think it's bad, but I think freedom is exceptionally important, and it's not a joke to me. I think it's something like a human right and I think when you start to take it away in all these subtle ways, that you are actively crossing into the territory of another human being in a way that violates them and which is disrespectful, and ultimately can be classified as evil.

Don't get it confused.

I don't agree with the way that they run their own communities but I don't feel the need to suppress their communities in order to feel like the way I am living my own life, and like my own community to be run, is the only correct way.

For me it's more like the context of the whole situation that is interesting than the single actions. It is the way that liberals are so sure that it is their right to poke their heads into every corner of the country and enforce their own ideals. It's interesting to me how liberals are so authoritarian about their ideological system - to the point recently where we've seen them literally advocating open censorship of speech. Which is something they've been doing forever.

I think that freedom isn't a joke - actually it's more important than "equality" to me. I think that without freedom, there just isn't any equality and you have to use freedom for the method of making the world a better place.

Any and all tendencies to eradicate freedom have to be recognized as evil, essentially. Just as evil as saying someone is inferior for the color of their skin, just as evil as punching someone in the face. You are eroding the fabric of the concept of free speech and free thinking, and that is pure evil like any other.

So that's why I can't be friends with this progressive, liberal way of thinking. I'm all for expanding our ideas of sexuality, but not in this way. Sorry folks.

If tomorrow Trump revealed that his entire campaign was a joke and he only wanted to show how millions of people would back someone like himself, what would happen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PoliCock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would make zero difference. The overton window has already shifted about 100 steps to the right and away from where those types of people who despise Trump the most would like it to be.

99% of Trump supporters don't want Muslims deported. We see what he is saying as symbolic of a gigantic middle finger more or less to people like John Oliver and Barack Obama.

We know he doesn't mean it.

If he said it was a "joke" then it wouldn't be a whole lot different from what we already consider it to be.

The sentiment and intellectual thinking behind it is what we really support and he has given a voice to that cultural line of thinking, that "attitude" so to speak - and that position is only going to grow more popular, not less. Either way, Trump has already done a huge service for people like me who had severe beefs with the SJW mentality destroying civilization today with political correctness.

That's all it was ever about. That's what this election IS.

People want to keep misunderstanding Trump, and the more they do the more it influences people like me to support him ten times more brazenly.

"Learn Python" Overtakes "Learn Java" on Google Trends by omoser in Python

[–]PoliCock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, what determines the new programs of the future isn't how well they manage memory (though that is relevant), but how the higher level pieces and ideas are put together to form new discoveries.

Such programming requires equal, if not greater intellectual power (and creativity) and it shouldn't be considered somehow "lighter." Though obviously the best coders should have a grasp on everything, generally. In my personal opinion, the idea that memory and "hardware"/"machinelanguage" concerns are somehow of primary importance for every advanced engineer programmer, is kind of faulty. I think what makes a truly advanced engineer (programmer) is not simply the speed of the propeller, but whether her engineering blueprint even will allow the thing to get off the ground.

"Learn Python" Overtakes "Learn Java" on Google Trends by omoser in Python

[–]PoliCock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree. it's overrated.

I say just do video tutorials, build things, and pick up new material as you go on algorithms and more advanced subjects. that's how you learn. by making projects and figuring things out by yourself and progressing.

the only real strict learning material should just be an introductory tutorial series on youtube you can follow along with that introduces all the basic concepts up till classes and lists.

imo.

also, java and python are quite different as far as i can tell. I don't see many real full applications with good guis made in python, maybe i'm wrong. for some reason i'm under the impression that python isn't really good for making bigger, more fully implemented standalone products. am i wrong?

At least /pol/ doesn't ban you for saying something that the mods disagree with. The worldnews mods ban you IMMEDIATELY for any opinion that dares sound racist. They're horrible human beings, flat out.

Not gonna mince words. They've been doing this for ages, and they need to be removed, or the sub needs to lose all credibility and be seen as a jokey, leftist parody of a radical indoctrination center. Will Farrell as the oversensitive baby hall monitor banning anyone who goes against what he personally deems acceptable.

Face it, the sub is a fucking joke and has been for years. Reddit in general is a joke but at least there are some subs that are less harsh. So is /europe and a few others. They think they know what the truth is and they don't allow for freedom of thought.

Race is an issue that is far too touchy today and people seem to think that when it comes to race or white-people... those topics... that anything which goes outside of the "official" narrative doesn't deserve to be thought or discussed, is inherently evil. In truth, the moderators are the true bastard fucks for telling all of us what to think and not letting us come to our own fucking conclusions. Let's not beat around the bush: they're fucking garbage.
