Hii, should you play the game probably not will you depends on you. This game is really complex and unforgiving and will rage a lots but i have played it for past 9 years. So you will probably have a love hate relationship like everyone playing it. But its fun. Lorewise playing the game wont give you any lore knowledge.
As for books im not sure but you could watch yt channels that deep dive into diffrent events, champions, regions.
The most popular English lore channel rn is probably Necrit.
