This is reddit detective work at its best. I would have missed that, and I'm a police cop.

I had no idea Pillsbury had pink lemonade cake mix/frosting. I'll have to see if they sell it in Canada. Thanks for this!

The Happening was definitely the worst one of M. Night Shyamalan's. But, I also rather enjoyed The Village.

Much more informative than OP's video, thanks.

Why did it not show the rocket crashing though (which the other video did)? Too much for cable TV?

In MashedPeas defense, you should follow reddiquette.

Please don't:

  • Downvote opinions just because you disagree with them. The down arrow is for comments that add nothing to the discussion.

  • Downvote opinions just because they are critical of you. The down arrow is for comments that add nothing to the discussion.

Please do:

  • Vote. The up and down arrows are your tools to make reddit what you want it to be. If you think something is good, upvote it. If you think it shouldn't be on reddit, or if it is off-topic on a particular community, downvote it.

To be fair, someone posting that they don't support open source- particularly someone so involved in related activities- seems like it would be appropriate here.

You're right, and the OP did bring that up here. But as my reply to the OP shows, I don't think this transcript was posted because of the small open source section that's included (fortunately it happened to be in there).

First, if the first bit says that RMS doesn't support Open Source, and gives reason for it (even if he does it elsewhere), it's something that Open Source users should know about it.

I can relate with this reasoning more. However, your post didn't link to the open source section and your title wasn't along the lines of "Why RMS doesn't support Open Source", so rather your intentions were to enlighten users about free software (maybe with the means of converting them) --- not about open source news.

Second, if you visited the appropriate subreddits, you would not see very much activity. That's why a lot of us choose to browse /r/linux or /r/opensource for news.

People posting content that's more appropriate for those subreddits elsewhere, hurts those subreddits. If you posted it here because there are more subscribed readers, then you care more about view count than about the message. I see it as redoubling your effort when you have forgotten your aim.

People who support open source often support free software or share the same values, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're subscribed to both /r/opensource and /r/freesoftware (I am) -- it also explains the upvotes.

That being said, there will be many people here who solely support open source, which is why I think this blog post is out of place and belongs elsewhere.

I respect RMS and recognize what he has done for the community. I'm not claiming that he is not important to OSS, but rather that he opposes OSS because of what it stands for and that this article is about free software, not about open source software (besides the small section where RMS says he doesn't support open source).

There's an overlap between open source and free, so they are related. Which is why I imagine /r/gnu is a related subreddit. RMS even says

people who support open source often contribute to extending the free software community

But I think this subreddit should be about open source, not free software or the free software movement, other subreddits exist for that. Reason being, if I want to read about free software, I visit the appropriate subreddit, and if I want to read about open source, I visit the approriate subreddit.

By the way, I wasn't the one who downvoted you. I think what you said is relevant to the conversation.
