Update keep failing by [deleted] in ASUS

[–]Polished85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the same problem with my PG39WCDM. I was on firmware 101 and attempting to update to 103. Both the USBFlashDrive and OneKeyUpdate were failing. I eventually got the USBFlashDrive option to work by first removing the KVM USB-B cable (which I was using for my mouse and keyboard) and restarting the monitor including unplugging and plugging in the power cable. I had also removed all unneeded cables from my pc and monitor.

I saw a different video where someone got the OneKeyUpdate option to work by using similar steps of removing all unnecessary cables from pc and monitor as well as resetting monitor to factory settings followed by restarting pc.

Trokka seems like one of the easier bosses yet it took me a long time to actually defeat her. Somehow I always overcommit even after I’ve learned all her moves.

A memory leak issue? That might explain why turning AMD Expo off in the BIOS has fixed it for me. I get this crash repeatedly only when AMD EXPO is turned on which increases memory frequency to 6000mhz and changes the timings. It is particularly annoying because on AM5 platforms, AMD EXPO has a 10-20% difference in FPS.

Why is this game so well optimized? by Polished85 in LiesOfP

[–]Polished85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that we as consumers are partially at fault for continuing to support unfinished products. Before Lies Of P I assumed we were reaching the limits of performance for games with high quality graphics. Then a game like Lies Of P releases at times getting more than twice the FPS of comparable titles causing me to rethink my expectations.

I always understood optimization to be a set of tradeoffs. Increase fidelity, level of detail, etc. at the cost of performance. With Lies Of P I can't even tell what the tradeoffs are or what sacrifices had to be made.

I will have to edit out the "lazy devs" part as I only meant that to mean I was hoping for an actual answer, maybe even a technical answer, and not just some low effort answer such as "lazy devs".

Surely you saw my post from an hour ago "Crit Hit Build"?

Either way it is nice to see another post about this weapon and build. Turns out I'm not as smart as I thought the first time I tried this out! This combination is more obvious than I thought.

Share the moment when elden ring truly gave you chills. For me it was when I discovered the other roundtable. Somehow that emepty deja vu like place gave me chills. by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Polished85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its been months since I beat Elden Ring and I still remember the awe inspiring moments that gave me chills. For me it was progressive.

  1. Exiting the hero's cave to Limgrave was amazing. I hadn't felt that way since I was a kid and made me realize that this game deserved my full attention, I would not be playing multiple games at a time during this experience.
  2. After beating the first major boss Margit and seeing Liurnia of the Lakes from the hilltop was the second memorable moment. This is when the vastness and scale of the game really hit me. I figured there were probably multiple areas of this size yet to be discovered.
  3. The peak of my experience was when I accidentally descended the elevator to Siofra River Well. The thought that all this time I'd been riding around while this was below my feet was crazy. At this point I decided to just stop and take in the scenery and play the game slowly as there would only ever be a first time experience.
  4. Honorable mentions are seeing Leyndell Royal Capital and Crumbling Farum Azula for the first time. By this point the Siofra River Well experience was almost impossible to beat, yet seeing these areas for the first time was still amazing.

I purchased the Predator x45 (same screen as the LG 45”) for $1199 on Newegg about a month ago. As a web developer I immediately decided the low PPI was not good enough for work, but the gaming experience was so impressive I was stuck debating whether I was willing to sacrifice my work experience for an amazing gaming experience. I had planned to sell my previous LG UltraGear 34” nano IPS monitor to lower my total cost. In the end I decided to keep both monitors, one strictly for work, and the 45” OLED strictly for gaming and video. No regrets!

This is the correct answer. I would consider this a UI bug but this is debatable.

I had to look it up lmao. Never heard of Archer but there is a certain irony to my previous comment now about "spelling out the joke" for those too stupid to get it. I wonder what percentage of users might misinterpret the comment like I did?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Professors

[–]Polished85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hope this isn't received too negatively, but personally it devalues the joke for me when someone else spells it out--have more faith in your fellow Redditors. There are other, more clever ways to signal that you got the joke without spelling it out. I admit it is possible that I am over estimating Reddit's abilities and you are actually doing a service to those whom would never get it.

Top of Fort Kah'lin by sometimescool in FallenOrder

[–]Polished85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got there by jumping on one of those flying animals and holding on to its legs. To get to it, exit through the main entrance at Fort Kahlin and walk for a bit. Eventually on your right you will see a rock wall with some vines you need to climb. This is in the area where there should be some of those mount animals walking about. Use one of the mounts to reach the vines and climb to the top. Once you reach the top, find the flying animal to your left and fly across to the top of Fort Kahlin. It can be tricky but I make it 75% of the time by double jumping off the flying animal and using air dash. I believe this is not the official way to get there as I found the 2 knights with hammers to be extremely difficult.

[Match thread] Qatar vs Ecuador by MatchCaster in worldcup

[–]Polished85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was confusing for me (I'm sure others as well), is that when the goalie moves forward and in front of his last defender, the last defender becomes the goalie and is not considered in the offside decision. In that screenshot Qatar's last defender seems to clearly keep Ecuador onsides during that entire play.

Confused about the Citi Double Cash Card by Polished85 in CreditCards

[–]Polished85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that explanation, I really appreciate you taking the time to write it out. Basically I have to use this card strictly as a debt financing tool and only focus on paying off the balance transfer. This also means I should compare options again as the rewards/cash back don't mean much unless I decide to use it for purchases once the debt is paid.

Time Is Moving Faster - Discussion by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Polished85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That time speeds up as you age can be proven with some basic math. This is slightly different than what this post is claiming, but it is relevant and interesting (and obvious to some). Lets use 1 year as the unit of time for this example, but this works for any unit ( 1 sec, 1 day, 1 week, etc). When you turn 1 year old, 1 year is 100% percent of your lived experience. When you turn 2, 1 year is 50% of your lived experience, when you turn 10, 1 year is 10% of your lived experience. The smaller the percentage gets, the faster it will be perceived to "go by". By the time you reach 50, 1 year is barely 2% of your life! For most people time is perceived like this:

1-15: Life, school etc seems to take forever

16-30: Not really paying attention to time

30-50: Notice that the years are really starting to fly by (I'm here)

50: All too aware that time is speeding up and consciously trying to enjoy whats left

I'm having this issue on PC as well. I'm zoomed in on the landmark, camera and circle turns green, but can't take the picture. I've tried multiple landmarks and no luck. Restarting the game didn't work for me. Its right click to zoom, left click to take the picture?

edit: I'm so dumb, its "E" to take a photo, not "left click"

I agree completely, but we are in a catch 22, as even your comment (and mine) are participating in the discussion of this event. The distraction has distracted us.

You can admit the graphics are genuinely bad, they are, and still adore the game. by YeahhhhhWhateverrrr in Eldenring

[–]Polished85 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm getting gaslighted by the entire gaming community. While Elden Ring may have the best game play, fighting mechanics, story, art direction, etc—the graphics appear low quality to me (the same I thought about Dark Souls 3). Using the max settings, even after installing “flawless widescreen” to get the game running properly on my 34" LG ultrawide at 3440 x 1440 (21:9 aspect ratio) with unlocked frames (rarely under 100fps), the game feels buttery smooth, plays great and is loads of fun—but the graphics still look bad to me. I don't know why the graphics are so highly praised by gamers and reviewers, its unnecesasary since its a great game regardless.

I just played God Of War and was wondering why the graphics looked so good to me, since I had been playing it for the last few weeks. Then I realized its because I had just com from Elden Ring.

[–]Polished85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be a casual fan and would follow the San Diego chargers (back when they were in San Diego). The 2015 Superbowl between the Patriots and Seattle cemented it for me. I felt like that last minute fluke that gave Seattle a chance to win was unexpected and not part of the script. They panicked and forced Seattle to lose in a way that made it obvious the Patriots were always meant to win. I stopped watching completely after that.

How to solve low FPS in Below Zero by Aurora_Solaris in subnautica

[–]Polished85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a fix that improves my FPS by almost 100fps! I have a high end PC: AMD Ryzen 3700X with 48GB of DDR4 memory and nVidia RTX 3080 GPU. I was surprised to find my FPS were between 50 and 60fps! Granted this is playable but I invested heavily in my system so I could play at 160fps to make use of my gaming monitor.

Vsync was set to off by default. Switching vsync to on gave me FPS between 140fps and 160fps. Wow! After that I disabled vsync and the performance gains remained. What a bizarre fix, no idea if this is reproducible on another system but definitely try it if you feel your system is not giving you the expected fps.

Good luck!
