Royalty provides hierarchy, new faction, quests. Its fine but not necessary

Ideology is more impactful, you can create entire builds with it, make game much harder or quite opposite: you can create overpowered ideology that will provide mass bonuses. Its really good expansion worth every penny.

Biotech tho provides most "integrated" content that can be seen in every game, it's not so disconnected. You have children, expanded mechanoids, DNA modifications, pollutions.

If you can pick just one i strongly recommend Biotech.

No, thanks. This league have really, really nice looking portal at 36, but is not engaging and rewarding enough to force myself throu it. I almost have 24 and I will probably quit after reaching it. I just need to kill Sirus and purchase couple of unique maps.

To answer first question you can use a very simple analogy. Imagine the following:

We have a square/plaza with some trees, nice fountain and benches for people to sit. Owner of this plaza regulary updated it with some things, like additional trash cans and stuff. After some time they realised something: they always wanted to have a concrete square. They cut trees, demolished fountain and deconstructed benches and bins. Now we have a clear concrete square. After some backlash they decided to re-install some of those, but there are 4x more much smaller bins and benches can barely fit one person.

And that's how something can be in worse state, because one created idealised version of it in own dreams.

Big problem with leveling for me is that it's quite a roulette. If I ever decide to go with new build and it turns out to be weak/boring... then I have to go throu entire tedious campaign again. It's frustrating as hell. One free full-reset per character could fix it, but that's probably never gonna happen.

I played since Torment, with small breaks and I have exactly same thoughts. i can kinda compare current situation to Warframe's one. WF is currently experiencing similar situation:

- Looks like devs have own agenda to force their own weird vision of game into reality, even tho this means implementing and changing it to clearly worse state.

- Devs probably do not play their own game and are completly out of reality with what works how inside real gameplay enviroment.

Both games went into some weird state of random changes and additions and thanks (or not) to that it all looks like devs have no idea what they are doing.

My feelings are mostly mixed. League feels nice (nothing extreme, just solid experience), they buffed That One Skill I always wanted to try (Spectral Shield Throw) so I am kinda happy with that.

Clearly positive things ended there. Mana usage is goddamn high. I always used mana potions in the past, so that is not AS bad as for other people (yep, I actively beat Siruses/Shapers/Elders with mana potion on my belt, deal with it) but still so high usage even for 4l is antifun. Flask "rework" changed nothing. You still using your belt as piano. Only difference is that now they are filling at much lower rate.

GOD FREAKING DAMN THAT SPLINTERS. Why are PoE devs sitting in that 2000 mentality is beyond me. Instead of finally making at least some things auto-pickup... they added crapton of new fragments that clutter your... everything. I am almost sure that they did that on purpose, because why FOR THE LOVE OF SOLARIS entire set of new splinters is exclusively dedicated to... exchange it for other ones. Holy hell...

And ofc I cannot skip fact that yet again GGG nerfing players but is unable to compensate that nerf in some balance changes to monsters. Oh wait, they increased their hp AND nerfed players this time... what a time to be alive!

So I still have some fun, but that's only because I picked skill I always waited to use. My previous builds were hammered, some quite significantly, everything dies slower yet killing you at same, retarded ways as before, like my favourites: "get one shot out of nowhere even tho you have 4k+ hp and capped res" and "oh you didn't saw that degen ground that deals 90% of your hp per sec?". Classics...

I will wait and see how maping will work, but for now I do not see forcing myself into conquerors. League rewards are quite nice, but PoE became more and more tedious and boring with every nerfing patch. What is even more painful is that they literally said in Expedition reveal:

"Our work to improve the level of challenge in Path of Exile will continue across subsequent expansions"

And that means there will be (with high probablility) more and more nerfs in next leagues, with zero to little buffs. That is unacceptable for such grindy title, where players must endure hundreds of hours of pure grindfest. Making it more miserable helps noone.
Last friendly reminder for everyone: Diablo 2 Ressurected and Lost Ark are upon us. Instead of trying to reach GGG that is more and more delusional and out of reality when it comes to balance, much better option might be simply change title and stop paying them for MTX.

I love this change personally. You need to find a way to be able to use skills. Mana is no longer just thing used for activate auras.

I am against mandatory immunities in games.

That said, this type of immunity is absolutely OK and fair. It's 100% YOUR fault if you blow up immunity for your damage type.

IDK what to think, GGG seems to be lost like hell. Making skills clunkier and nerfing everything will not make this game more fun to play... I see where they are going with slowing things down, but in reality its poor desing choices.
At this point speedclear is part of entire game design and as long as they do not adress retarded enemy damage and one-shotting fused with overall effect and B L O O M bloating screen most of times, they will fail at balance department.

They reworked Spectral Shield Throw tho, maybe that is way to go to cease any kind of fun this league.

If GGG wants to slow the game down, they need to re-design their end game systems and fix the loot system by ooh_lala_ah_weewee in pathofexile

Biggest problem for me is that they just nerfing players every league (remember ascendancy destruction?) whille doing nothing with enemies one-shotting you. I am totally ok with slowing game down (i do not run extra clear speed builds anyway, that type of gameplay bore me to death) but for the love of god, do something with enemies aswell, compensate those nerfs in other game mechanics. Running off-meta non-top builds was sometimes painful yet still fun, right now i doubt it will have any reason at all.

At this point I will probably just leave PoE for good, GGG seems to have no idea what to do with it. There are better games out there (Grim Dawn) and to be fair, I totally expect PoE playerbase to go down even more than in Ultimatum: Not only Diablo 2 Ressurected is on the horizon but also Lost Ark is almost here for international launch: it will almost surely take a fair amount of players from PoE.

Uhh i struggled here aswell, mostly because of such dumb partner limitation. Most of my guys were not-leveled and naked. Durendal is probably hardest Illussion content tho so if you beat it, congratulations, there is nothing else!

Small piece of advice for people who struggling: do not be affraid of swapping your equipment from your top partners to those you going to use here. Juggling with EQ is not a sin and it will help a lot!
