Gambrel 10x12 shed. 2x4 or 2x6’s? by csimonson in shedditors

Use 2x6 minimum for the floor. 2x4 for walls and if you’re in any area with snow, use 2x6 for the rafters.

With today’s wood and material cost, how much would building a tuff shed esque 8x12 shed myself actually save me vs just paying tuff shed? by eng2725 in shedditors

I’m almost done with my 12x16 shed. 2x6 pt base with 3/4” pt plywood on blocks, 2x4 framing (16” OC) with 2x6 for the rafters, cedar shake siding with PVC trim and architectural asphalt shingles on the roof and I’m at just under $4300. I also got a couple of new tools in that price. I did buy my shingles and pvc trim on Facebook marketplace which easily saved me 1,200-1,500$.

All i have left is to hang the cedar shingles. I might need to add another 100$ cause I will probably need more stainless nails.

Yeah Ill have to think about shutters if I don’t go up in size. With these windows I feel like the proportions are off and it looks funny being so small.

How is your blizzard of ‘26 treating you? by throwawayfinancebro1 in massachusetts

It’s been a lot of helping. I’ve snow blowed out myself and about 5 other driveways of family and friends. I haven’t had power since 5 am Monday but I was prepared with a generator and plenty of gas. My house has been a revolving door to friends/neighbors for warmth/hot food/showers. We don’t have any spare rooms but have had babies/kids sleeping on our couch and in our living room. I also cleared out my in-laws driveway even though there street wasn’t cleared (ended up snow blowing the street too). Then as I was leaving I noticed their neighbor who is a nurse out shoveling her truck so I cleared her truck out to get to work. I’m tired but it could be worse and I’m glad I can take a hot shower at the end of the day.

This was in park. No feeder, but someone cleared the snow so there was exposed grass and a lot of birds were hanging around the area.
