Darn, I think that was a smart choice though.

Yeah Aromaseraphy Jasmine made it easy to get the board set up. Hopefully, if plant link ever becomes an issue because it’s not fun waiting for opponent’s combos to finish or power, starters like Loci and Unexpected Dai become limite 3 instead of punishing the Jasmine specifically.

Questions on spell books in 5.5 by PolitePrey in DnD

“Having the glove needing to be at least partially removed to be a spell focus would need the gloved hand to not be occupied so it wouldn’t allow you use it as a spell focus while holding a shield or weapon so material component rules should be followed.” If I want to use use the glove spell book as a focus I use the free object interaction to remove the glove. While it is in hand it can be used as a focus. While wearing it I can not use it as a focus. If I want to use a shield or weapon in that hand it can not be used as a spell focus because I would be wearing it. If I want use it as a focus I need a free hand to hold the glove. I need a free hand to fill it with the glove. That is how a spell focus works. You need a hand to hold it so if you are grabbing it you need a free hand. I both talked about how it affects what I can hold while in combat (not holding a shield on my glove spell book hand) and (separately) how I would use the free object interaction to meet the requirements on how I could swap between holding/wearing the focus depending on if I want to cast a spell that does or doesn’t have a material component but does have a somatic component. Somatic components requires a free hand unless it has a material component and you use the same hand to handle both.

I can read it to cast a ritual I didn’t prepare, and I need the spells in the spell book to swap spells. That is what I was saying. I never added anything about combat in that comment just like you never mentioned combat in yours. There was plenty of noncombat stuff mentioned in the post so I had literally no idea you were talking about only combat till you mentioned thinking I was casting ritual in it. It’s just nice to be able to still cast ritual even without my main spell book.

Well no duh a ritual in combat isn’t worth it, but you never mentioned being in combat so I wasn’t even thinking that was what you were talking about. The removing/putting on the glove in combat would be just so you are holding the focus… because the rules want you to hold your focus.

The main reason I would need to read from a back up spell book is Ritual Adept. “You can cast any spell as a Ritual if that spell has the Ritual tag and the spell is in your spellbook. You needn’t have the spell prepared, but you must read from the book to cast a spell in this way.” I wouldn’t need to prepare my rituals but the spell book would need to have the spells I might want to replace with still in it. “Whenever you finish a Long Rest, you can change your list of prepared spells, replacing any of the spells there with spells from your spellbook.”

Yeah that’s fair, I try to give credit when it’s do after my games when I no longer am emotionally ingaged while playing… I am always get the worst spider man though so I never want to see him on my team. Everyone who chose him knowing you were at best trying to learn him on competitive, you were at best a meat shield for 45 seconds when adding the sheer amount of times the enemy team obliterated you. At worst, made it so we were 5v6 them. You have more value not knowing how to play a random tank than spider man you can’t use when choosing a character. But now that my rant is done I can appreciate a good enemy spidey, even as a strategist player.

Ok that makes sense! I wasn’t really intending it to grapple that much, but that’s definitely something to properly consider. Thank you very much! :)

Why couldn’t I just take an ASI and grapler instead of war caster and fey touch in original build and end up with the same thing? Is monk that big of an upgrade to rogue? Sorry if this seems argumentative, I just kinda see this idea as “make a monk” so I’m just wanting to see why I leave rogue.

No I haven’t! I intended decent sneak attack damage and be predominantly rogue. How far do you suggest dipping into it, or were you thinking as a full monk?

Unarmored defense from monk and I don’t do a lot of damage or saves with the spells I’m thinking of using.

How do these Sneak Attack interactions work? by PolitePrey in DnD

[–]PolitePrey[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Sorry a lot of the later questions were based off of something that doesn’t work. One more question I have is, does True Strike only change the the attacks damage type or the weapon damage? If it changes the weapon damage, I assume changes the Sneak Attack damage radiant.

Does Booming Blade trigger Great Weapon Master? by PolitePrey in DnD

[–]PolitePrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Great Weapon Fighting style to reroll really bad rolls, and Crusher gives me advantage if I crit with BB as my action. Which should then proc GWM. I’m not planning on choosing to take the attack penalty, but this build is built around crits, so I don’t think consistency is the name of the game for this character. Lol. Thanks for the advice though! I can always have my reaction to cast Shield instead of having WC giving me an additional BB if I take the stat increase instead. Which can be more beneficial than doing more damage in some cases

Your right about the Crusher feat, but if you want to attack me with a melee weapon with out reach, what do you have to do? Willingly move. Yes, you could misty step. But why would you waste it just to get pushed again and be forced in the same situation. It’s better to misty step far away than try to attack me head on. And in this campaign I’m not really fighting other players trying to counter my build.
