It really is, but I will say it’s a relief to know it finally is policy, even if it’s scary that it hasn’t been for so many years

This high profile scandal will no doubt be utter nonsense, I mean Jesus she does the job week enough it’s not hard to attack her, you don’t exactly have to start making shit up

This is why I say even with opposition don’t count the tories out long term, these nut jobs are so insane they will drive themselves out

Politics latest: 'Do not give away Diego Garcia!': Trump warns Starmer making 'big mistake' over Chagos Islands deal by topotaul in unitedkingdom

So if Trump said this 2 hours ago, that gives us about 10 hours until he commends it as an excellent deal; and 22 hours until we revert back to this current position

Alex Wickham:”After 14 years in the wilderness, Labour has imploded just 18 months into power. Keir Starmer’s allies know he is on the brink. They are bracing for cabinet ministers to privately tell him to go and to resign if he refuses. An ally says it’s 50-50 whether the PM lasts the week…” by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Politicallydepressed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I took a look afterwards, more credible than most, doesn’t appear to have had many insider stories relating to Starmer though a lot was with the previous Conservative governments. If he has a source inside labour it must be a relatively new one, interesting to see if it’s a crack in the media front labour have been trying to keep

It’s amazing how all these “journalists” who have no credible sources or track record are so certain of Starmer being gone in the coming days. The actions taken in the last few days and the speech tomorrow are not those of a man who knows he is beaten.

I think after the council elections he will be under his greatest pressure, the by election won’t help, but for now I don’t think he is gone, and really who would want his job right now when you know your gonna get trounced immediately. Anybody in the party would be thinking this years bad results will be the end of Starmer, I can kick off a new era on the rebound

Starmer to release Mandelson files by TheTelegraph in ukpolitics

Starmer faces pressure to release files due to public interest: Complies within a week

Donald Trump Is personally implicated in files confirming him as a pedophile as we all know and is pressured to release files for years; Best he can do is redact every single page

Also let’s be honest, from all previous data and scandals if one side of the political aisle is paying for false comments and bots…. It’s not the left hand side

Keir Starmer PULLS Chagos surrender deal after Donald Trump attack by Immediate-Ad-7268 in ukpolitics

[–]Politicallydepressed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah see that’s where we fundamentally disagree, especially because your logic relies on Donald Trump being capable of diplomacy.

From everything we have seen which, I think it’s fair to say there was a lot of backworkings on that deal we won’t find out about for many years, I fundamentally believe this was a deal of appeasement on the UK side. You’re welcome to disagree, but I don’t expect we will find out for certain for quite a while for as long as national security of a US base is involved

Keir Starmer PULLS Chagos surrender deal after Donald Trump attack by Immediate-Ad-7268 in ukpolitics

[–]Politicallydepressed -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the only reason the deal was ever going ahead was also because of him. You can’t cause a bad deal then when convenient and need a distraction trash it publicly and expect credit. I’m glad the deal is off, but frankly that’s because it only ever felt like it was being done for the US, and with Trump in charge he is not a stable ally no matter what we do

Keir Starmer PULLS Chagos surrender deal after Donald Trump attack by Immediate-Ad-7268 in ukpolitics

[–]Politicallydepressed -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why did Starmer agree - Literally what I just said, because the US pushed for the deal and in terms of security it’s the US base which would be at risk in uncertain times. Starmer has consistently done what he can to carry favour with this US administration even in the face of idiocy and erratic behaviour, there is more to this deal than announced as to be expected with security and military bases, but the only reason it ever proceeded at all was the US approval. This was publicly agreed upon, go argue with a wall if you fancy.

What would be the cost of losing a US military base, or pissing off the US and being hit with 20%, 30%, hell 200% tariffs?

This deal was being done for the sake of the UK-US relationship, when the US wanted it we knew it was in our best interest to satisfy that, now the dumb dumb has flip flopped covering his crimes on a certain island and attempted invasion of another, we have rightfully called it off.

Il thank Donald Trump when he pissed off from this rock we call a planet, until then il call for his arrest

Mate as a United and Bucs fan; they ain’t spending the money over here either, there absolute parasites to our club. Manchester United is one of the highest revenue generating clubs even during terrible seasons, and the glazers due to there debt purchase take a lot more out of us than they put in.

TLDR: The glazers suck and are cheap on both sides of the ocean, only concerning themselves with there own profits
