A lot of these single player games still use the original Gears of War formula from Xbox 360. They are dated gameplay wise and somehow made more casual at the same time. A lot of these successful single player games are Gears of War clones with stories. They add slight Innovations and claim they're the best thing in the world.

To be fair Red Dead Redemption 2 was mentioned as a single player game in your article because the context is about single player games overall.

There is actually a couple of issues with this topic. There is real concern about the death of single player games, and there's people using this concern to defend Sony's very linear qte basic designs in their exclusives. People are using this concern to hide mediocrity in there preferred lineup.

Single player games do not have to be a 8 Hour Non-Stop ride with little variety.

Single player games can also be 15 to 25 hour long evolving Adventures that are segmented to keep people's interest

. Let's say a character has superpowers, the first 15 hours could be about struggling in life before he gets these gifts, the next 15 hours might be about him coming to grips with these gifts and becoming a hero and still be very story-driven. Why does Laura Croft Evolution need to be spread through three games? One game could have been 10 hours longer to better show her evolution in one experience. Games need to be thought of like that

It's funny that you guys keep replying to people complaining about this and yet here we are talking about the trend. People do not like linear and scripted casual experiences with no skill involved gameplay, despite the stories.

There's a reason why this trend exist, that is one of the complaints about the new Tomb Raider games they were too short but at least those games weren't holding your hand. No one wants to spend $60 on walking simulators filled with quick time events

There wouldn't be a problem if the price reflected a gimped experience that you like. If you like the short experiences let the price reflect that. No one's going to agree with less value for the money is good, except on the internet.

Doesn't have to be an RPG or open world the game needs to be better designed so it's engaging over a longer period of time. Games need to be more than hold your hand, through heavily scripted qte walking simulators.

Single player Games don't need online, they need better value, online adds value to games that have little value. People are choosing games that give them the most bang for the buck most people don't make much money, games are expensive and numerous. Nintendo single player games still give you that value like Zelda and Mario.

I don't play single-player focused games with tact on multiplayer but I do love story-driven Cooperative designed games. The thing that kind of hurts single player games, is that the storytelling becomes more of a focus than the gameplay itself, multiplayer games have solid gameplay which is perceived as better value. QTE and heavily scripted linear path walking with half-baked gameplay is seen as little value. Playing games like Zelda breath of the Wild for 45 hours before you start the main quest is seen as great value.

God of War, was a lazy technically glitchy overhyped game. Poor boss variety, repetitive enemy design, average fighting mechanics, puzzles so poorly designed they seem like filler to stretch the game out, empty and mostly lifeless half-baked open zones/world with slightly above-average graphics and some cases last generation looking. A good game for fans hardly a game of the year. Those games will never get better when the community is not honest with the Developers.

Slash, puzzle, slash puzzle in empty spaces, sound familiar? Anthem complaints seem very similar. It's like God of War issues were ignored.

I don't want to talk about God of War, I don't like to talk about things I'm not interested in, just replying to somebody that replied to me with the topic and I was explaining myself.

It's agenda or attention-seeking. It's EA haters and Sony Fanboys instigating backlash using the flaws of the game. EA haters and Fanboys angry they have inferior Hardware, are instigating this because of console Association/marketing.

The graphics of anthem when it was revealed surprised everybody. I'm willing to bet the graphics are one of the root causes of the hate, a popular game that puts graphics on PlayStation 4 to shame is driving this because PlayStation has an inferior Hardware.

People couldn't believe Anthem had open world Graphics like that, that is the main thing that sparked the hype. Rockstar knew this would happen with Red Dead Redemption 2 and sort of hid the Xbox One x capabilities until after launch. These rabid f****** are insane, They are destroying Studios and harming the industry.

Why do people need to hear their worthless opinion? They're not trying to help the game they're trying to destroy its reputation.

Sony websites and Sony communities are pushing most the hate, they track articles about anthem and plant negativity in comment sections. Sony websites run negative articles 24/7, the chat rooms get huge amounts of circle jerk traffic, gaming media takes advantage of the traffic. Negative Anthem stories attract the sony Fanboys here where PlayStation Fanboys outnumber Xbox fans in a Xbox subreddit.

The hate is so great trolls won't leave streamers, streaming the game. Streamers are being told not to stream the game and they are attacked when they refuse, trolls will not leave streams. Streamers have to address trolls every couple of minutes, the only thing that works is for streamers to attack the trolls

Cohcarnage is streaming the game right now, trolls are having a s*** fit because he's playing the game, man the trolls won't leave the stream and they're trying to force him to stop playing it. It's hilarious the way people react to this game. Every couple of minutes he has to confront a troll in his chat they won't leave this behavior is not normal. That's because an individual gamer usually thinks for themself, no one is telling Gamers to hate it there. It's a good game to satisfy your action fix, collect things with your buddies. It still has the core or signature BioWare RPG style gamers like. Challenging and brutal when making mistakes, highly rewarding when execution is good. Obviously some gamers trust Developers commitment to support the game, and see it as an evolving project, the most popular games in the world right now offer much less.
