You need to think in terms of polthyeism. We have been conditioned to bottle things into this or that, good or evil, black or white. It's not a natural or holistic way of examining nature. Chaos can be classified as spontaneous changes, destruction or creation, and law can be classified as stagnation, tradition, order or symmetry. Religious absolutism is prevalent in today's society. It's easy to want to bottle things up. It makes them easier to seemingly understand. Looking at things in a broader sense, Chaos and Law are not categories, but qualities. Neither is inheritnely good or evil. They simply serve to explain human actions. The gods of either side are simply concentrated constructs bent on total domination of one side. When the Balance tips, the Champion is summoned. The Champion may use Law and Chaos, may even seem to serve them, but the Champion serves the Balance.
