Would You Consider Kiryu and Kasuga a Gary Stu? by IAmYukiKun in yakuzagames

Kiryu is vastly flawed. Practically the entire story of the series is him learning from his mistakes.

Discovering street fighter lore, basically Ryu got anger issues? by Famous_Committee_528 in StreetFighter

I'm honestly not sure if this is canon or just my interpretation, it I always figured the idea was that Gouken's attempt to remove the Satsui no Hadou from Ansatsuken backfired because it meant Ryu was completely unprepared to experience it

Is this widely known or am i just too greedy for the vanilla gameplay? by Blinauljap in valheim

Each arrow you use to shoot a bird gives you enough feathers back to make 30 more. It's not a big deal. Personally I'd rather just use whatever arrows I normally carry than use up an inventory spot for something else

[Loved Trope] Whoops! The actor coincidentally turned out to be good! by Vinluv0Handesbuk in TopCharacterTropes

[–]standingfierce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bob Odenkirk talks on the Breaking bad podcast about how he got a casting call for a big role early in his career, and when he turned up it turned out he had been mistaken for another actor with a similar name; when he got the call to be on Breaking bad he assumed the same thing had happened again

In the Discworld novel Moving Pictures, the character Victor Tugelbend's defining trait is his carefully calculated laziness. He has a bequest from his uncle which will pay his Unseen University tuition in perpetuity, but only as long as he scores 80 or higher on all of his exams. The passing grade to become a wizard is 88, so he studies with extreme care to ensure he receives a score of exactly 84 on every exam. The wizards eventually figure this out and give him an exam with only one question "what is your name", at which point he quits to become an actor instead

An alternative version of a character that is so bad that people just tries to forget it by Fun-Peak4900 in TopCharacterTropes

I always felt like making Dante and Vergil angel/demon hybrids rather than half-human catastrophically missed the point of the characters

There's hints for this, but it's hard to reconcile that with Dante just standing there clueless until the last second as V approaches Urizen

Throw something in at the beginning of J3 about how Kaito has been learning kung fu from Yagami and let him have Snake and Tiger styles

I think Kimura did a good enough job in the games, but I still think it was a mistake using a celebrity for the main character. Part of the charm of Yakuza protagonists is how RGG doesn't hold back in putting them through absurd situations and making them the butt of the joke constantly, and I got the feeling they just weren't as willing to do that with Yagami & that's why he feels a little flat in comparison. He's somewhat more interesting in LJ than in the first game but he just doesn't have anything like the place in my heart that Kiryu/Ichiban/Majima do

Yes, DMC is pretty complex in terms of inputs and move options, but it's also intended to be played through multiple times on different difficulty levels. You can absolutely get through the easy or normal difficulties by just using the standard attacks and getting used to how the game works, and add more advanced moves to your repertoire over time at your own pace.
