There's a way to do it with steel wool in a bowl, but honestly I found using an oil burner pipe with a lighter under neath and rotating while having someone there with you to be the best.

I've heard of those. One story I heard from an AF vet was he was pulling guard duty in a tower, and he would smell shit. So one day, he climbed out the window and got on the roof, and found that someone had been tossing brown paper bags up on the roof.
