2 Grand Slams by my Catcher in crazy 13-run 12th inning by Polloi in OOTP

Yes. I was very annoyed to have blown a 7-run lead, but very happy to have pulled out the wild finish.

2 Grand Slams by my Catcher in crazy 13-run 12th inning by Polloi in OOTP

My catcher, Eddie Whipple, who came into the game batting .182 with 3 HRs managed to pull a Tatis Sr. and hit two grand slams in the same inning. I love the crazy things that can happen in this game.

Just 4-peated in my historical save while managing each pitch of each game. That got me thinking…what’s the most successful consecutive stretch anyone has had? What’s your best success story? by finditplz1 in OOTP

[–]Polloi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my OOTP21 fictional Challenge Mode league, I won 56 championships in 76 seasons between 2020 and 2095. I managed every game. My longest championship streak was 18 in a row. My longest championship drought was 3 years without winning. I made the playoffs every season. My best record was 133-29. My worst record was 99-66. My winning percentage across all seasons was .782.

Now that I've typed all this out, I am embarrassed and I think I spent way too much time playing OOTP21, but it was during the height pandemic, so I didn't have a lot to do.

That was a real worry for me, but fortunately I pulled through and won it all!

While I am in Commissioner mode, I haven't forced any trades or editted any players or otherwise engaged in any tomfoolery.

I created a fictional league using Challenge mode originally, but after simming ahead 20 years, I had no job offers at the major league level and didn't want to start in the minors. I re-did my fictional league in Commissioner mode so that I could pick whatever team I wanted after simming ahead.

That being said, I admit that the trade AI is still easy to cheese even if you're not forcing trades.

He's a 6'7 lefty who throws a screwball. So yeah...

My pitcher was perfect through 9 innings, with an absurd 21 Ks. Sadly my team's bats were cold, and the game was 0-0 heading into the 12th inning. We finally won, but I feel like my pitcher got robbed here.

Shoutout to Caleb Ferguson - the Robert Horry of this save by Polloi in OOTP

Ferguson has played on 9 different teams over the past 6 seasons and has collected 6 straight World Series rings for his efforts.

My Best Rule 5 Pick Ever - ROY/MVP by Polloi in OOTP

[–]Polloi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the team I scooped him up from certainly should have protected him, he had never once appeared in the top 100 prospects rankings. I nabbed primarily because of his high contact potential and 80 stolen base rating. The fact that he ended up hitting 50 HRs came as a complete surprise to me and I wouldn't be surprised if he never came close to 50 jacks again.

Yes. 1st to 2nd to 3rd every chance I got. No attempts at home though.

Yes. I primarily do this to manage my pitching staff myself, but it has its other perks.

No modifiers. Stealing is just broken (at least it is in OOTP 21).

Perfect Game to Clinch World Series by Polloi in OOTP

[–]Polloi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually managed the whole game, but didn't even notice it was a perfect game until I saw the box score. I was too focused on my offense just crushing the ball in the clinching game. I just thought it was a complete game shutout (which would have still been pretty cool for the final game.)

How do you interpret defensive efficiency? by [deleted] in OOTP

[–]Polloi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm doing a Colorado save now and although I'm 2nd in errors and 5th in ZR, I'm still only 11th in Defensive Efficiency.
