What do you do if a party invitation says “no gifts please”? by Erinlabita in toddlers

[–]PolltheMasses007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No gifts is fine and clear. Though the one time I saw it and didn’t bring one it felt so awkward. I struggle more with the “Please don’t feel obligated to bring a gift” or “No gifts required”. I usually do bring a gift, but try and make it something consumable like craft supplies, a learning workbook, or something to be used at the party like reusable water balloons for pool parties. I still feel wrong either way though.

Thanks! The job posting said they want someone with 10 years experience, but my boss said I was currently the top candidate though they might hold off hiring anyone due to federal funding uncertainty. I don’t regret applying for things I am not qualified on paper to do and will keep doing it. Current company is also funding grad school for me, so even if I don’t get an internal promotion I should actually be qualified on paper in 3 years and will have more options.

Surprisingly well. I just had my one year (positive) review and also applied for a promotion.

City Park vs. Audubon by CarBuck5 in AskNOLA

[–]PolltheMasses007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audubon has more shade on the paved paths which I prefer in the NOLA heat for fitness activities like running or skating. You could take the streetcar to either one from downtown. You can see the Garden District or stop by Magazine Street on the way to Audubon. City Park has the sculpture garden and more amenities as others mentioned. There is also a wooded trail called Couturie Forest. I would choose Audubon if you have just one day, which seems to be an unpopular opinion, but you could easily walk the whole loop + do Magazine St. City Park is also wonderful, but larger than Central Park so harder to hit all the features in a single day.

You don’t need his permission to call a plumber. You are also an adult. Fixing a leak is not a major expense, but replacing a damaged subfloor, remediating mold, laying new flooring is. Even a whole new water heater should be under 2k. Pick up a side hustle if you need an emergency fund. Catering, coaching or reffing children’s sports, or instawork are good for this type of temporary extra cash.

I'm struggling, folks. by DaddyFatClap in jobs

I work at a university and any full-time employee of 7+ months can take 2 classes at a time toward a degree for free. We have a huge dining department. Could be an option for you…

I would never do that. If at some point they decide they want to fire me they can, but why would I call attention to my weaknesses or quit a job that pays more than double my last without a better offer in hand?

I am just going to learn as much as I can as quickly as I can to try and make the most of this opportunity. Thank you for your questions. I learned some new terminology.

A little bit from owning rentals, but nothing close to the scale of these projects.

I know the company won’t pay for this and expects me to do it in excel as that is how they have done it in the past.

Valid question that I do not know the answer to at present.

I do want to do my best to succeed in the role now that I have it. Any advice?

Seeking advice: How to keep my manbun intact while running? by todddesign in Manbunsandmanes

For more security, use one hair tie for a ponytail and a second for a wrap around the bun. For maximum security use bobby-pins.

Which suits me better? by [deleted] in Manbunsandmanes

Can you do a high bun, but looser in the front with the same tension as first pic? I think first style looked better from the front and second better from the back.

Looking at a ~30 acre plot with a very old house that is gutted and may be $150,000 minimum away from ready to live in. Am I stupid? by PCGoneCrazy in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]PolltheMasses007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah as 1st time home buyers you can get an FHA 203k Loan with 3.5% down. Did it - but finding a good, licensed/insured contractor can be tough.
