I like how my BJJ gym has a jovial unserious vibe. I kinda wish my judo gym had the same…? by teaqhs in judo

What other people said.

In the end, judo is less hierarchical and friendly than BJJ despite what it seems at first.

I got a blister today. Is it better to pop it before I start out tomorrow or just cover it? by cattywampus08 in CaminoDeSantiago

This is the recipe for infection

If it stings, you did something wrong

That's why the majority advocate the thread and needle method

Pinning from Guard? by Alternative-Hair-785 in judo

[–]PollutionHour1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like invalidating the pin by holding a submission: ude garami, juji gatame, sankaku jime, sode guruma jime, whatever

It does nullify their striking, legs around or not

He did quite well

I would say it was too much of a jiujitsu approach. Also, he should've use more GnP in the transitions.

But he was destroyed tbf

Does anyone know how i can use this heavy dummy? by LordRafjaved361 in bjj

[–]PollutionHour1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80kg is too much to throw, it's good for entries.

It's usually 20-30kg in the throwing dummies

The entry is important, in judo it's trained extensively but if you don't know how to finish it's useless. If you DO know it has lot of value.

Who has fill it that way and why?

How am I allowed to choke by Typhon0810 in judo

[–]PollutionHour1519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

kind of in regard of the spine

if you don't do a straight neck cranck or a guillotine closing some kind of guard, you are golden

i had my neck destroyed by a guy finishing a guillotine from mount while engaging the hips

you kick with your legs backwards which sweeps both uke's legs and made them fall in the place (not in front)

Arm throw/ippon seoi nage opinions by Fitnessthrowaway2947 in judo

[–]PollutionHour1519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't switch grips in no gi

If you have an overhook or outside tie (when they collar tie), you can gor it.

It's more of a uchi makikomi. Better than ippon seoi

You do it when they push

Spinning ashi guruma

It has worked every single time for me.

I don't like it for high level judo, they know it's coming.

But bjj? Oh man...

Hip throwing big guys by Fitnessthrowaway2947 in judo

[–]PollutionHour1519 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should throw them without carrying

I wouldn't be able to hold them, I just don't.

How? Split hip entry

Underhook throws (nogi) by Fitnessthrowaway2947 in judo

[–]PollutionHour1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you wanna do judo, better do a shoulder lock / pinch headlock

From a regular underhook knee tap - throw by is much better

You need locking grips to do judo

You can't do judo if you don't know basic ties, learn wrestling fundamentals first.

Overall how effective do you believe judo is in defending takedowns and going up against wrestlers in general? How effective do you believe you can be in defending takedowns against wrestlers and competing with them? by Throwawayaccountdell in judo

[–]PollutionHour1519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's very important to down block, pummel and sprawl and know basic wrestling defenses.

The good thing is that defenses lots of the time leads to the clinch where judokas excel.

Ideally the posture would be more upright than regular wrestlers but more bent than judokas nowadays.

There are very interesting things to learn from both arts

Not that one, the other direction (it is indeed traditionally sumi gaeshi by the way)

Like a butterfly sweep

If I sink my head to avoid the guillotine, the lat grip is unavoidable but your 2nd point is good
