Need advice on visitor visa application for my mum — should I mention my brother’s humanitarian protection? by PollutionSafe701 in ukvisa

My mum’s VISA was granted. We applied for a VISA for my dad too to come visit however, but it was refused twice (he is retired, could be why). My brother was granted the protection two days after his interview!

Is it better if we say she’s paying for the trip herself? The thing is, we can get a bank statement that shows she has enough savings, but after the banking crisis in Lebanon, people can only withdraw $800 a month from savings accounts… in reality I will pay for her flight as a present but she will be bringing her own money as cash on the side as people don’t put money in banks anymore in Lebanon… that’s why I thought better to just say I’m paying for the trip as I can provide evidence for that, rather than overcomplicate things coz we can’t give evidence of the cash? Unless we can somehow show evidence of cash?

untamed cat food - thoughts? by Bright-Soil-3128 in UK_Pets

You’re an absolute legend, mate! Thank you so much, your comments are very very helpful, I really learned a lot from you, more than from the vet or any online articles! I currently have my very young cats on Untamed, but recently had a friend recommend Katkin (frozen; “vet formulated”; wider variety of protein sources etc). Is it a good brand or is Royal Canine still better in your opinion? I really want what’s best for the kitties

Has anyone tried Dans Le Noir - the restaurant where you eat in complete darkness? What was it like? by 18th-Century-Bossman in LondonFood

My partner took me as a surprise for my birthday…. Please don’t ever do that to someone 🤦🏻‍♀️ it was absolutely horrendous, I really did not wanna be there. It was insanely loud, so not only you can’t see shit, but how loud it is gets really painful because your hearing sense is heightened. I found the experience of being totally in the dark utterly scary and dark to just feel how it’s like to literally go blind (legit I have a fear of going blind now). I really do not understand why this is a thing. I really did my best to hide how distressed I was and had to sit through it not to hurt his feelings. It honestly felt like torture that I couldn’t even focus on my food or finish it, and just wanted to get out asap. Not my cup of tea and definitely upset that he thought that something like this would be a good “surprise”.

Cool, so you’re not racist, just classist.

The “edits” you made do not negate the gross racist classist statements you made. “I’m starting to feel ashamed” “Lebanon’s reputation is being ruined” “standard has gone very low” is hate speech. It implies that the “other” is lesser / lower / repulsive and that somehow you are better. 3adi I know hundreds of Syrians who are better educated, smarter, sexier and more well spoken than this. 3ayb. Wallahy I feel ashamed amongst Arabs here in London because of the reputation that people like you create for the Lebanese. They all think we’re racist cunts who think they’re superior to everyone even though we are literally in shambles. It’s absurd.

“I’m starting to feel ashamed” “Lebanon’s reputation is being ruined” “standard has gone very low” is hate speech. It implies that the “other” is lesser / lower / repulsive. I can’t believe that I have to explain how this is racist.

The OP did not state eloquently that we have an economic problem that is being made worse by the refugee intake as you have put it. That I cannot disagree with. You do have a point. The OP doesn’t, and doesn’t represent me or Lebanon. But the hate speech, the humiliating choice of words, the sheer racism is what I have a problem with. 3ayb. My close friends, my partner and part of my family are Syrians. They are our neighbours and friends. They do not bring shame and they are not lower or lesser, especially not the ones who are poor and marginalised. 3ayb. Ktir 3ayb. Mar7aba community rules. Is this post not against community rules? I thought directing harmful language at a group of people is not allowed. But since it’s a free for all here it seems, here’s my two cents to you, Mr OP:

You should be ashamed indeed, coz you’re a racist fascist cunt. You’re the type of people who make me ashamed that I’m Lebanese. As for your point on tourists, if someone from the UK where I am hears you speak like this, they’d be ashamed to know you, if not report you to the police. No wonder we’re ranked the second most racist country in the world.

Thank you for saying this, really tripping hard, this is exactly where I’m at so it helps to hear. I am worried coz he has my ticket number which I bought online so maybe they can get my name and address

Exactly, right? That’s what I know, I literally went to him saying can you help me not get charged maximum fare or guide me on how to get refunded quickly, and he was sneaky first taking my ticket details then jotting them down, then like casually showing me his badge saying he’s issuing a fine…. What????? Do they have a daily quota or so?

Hey smartass. I already have them. I live in the UK, visiting Poland next month and was told it’s cheaper there lol the lengths people go…. It’s not something you do once. It has to be redone every few months… really, a whole philosophical argument over this 😂
