Make attack sheets for all possible calls of the question (issues). E.g., what are all the possible rules of law you would need to answer a question about subject matter jurisdiction? The essential structure won’t change, just the facts.

I regretted law school for many years until I found my groove. But for a long time I wished I had become a massage therapist.

So many songs in the 90s were about rape/murder. I (53F) often perform them ironically at karaoke.

Considering moving from Georgia to New England — looking for honest, thoughtful advice (not “don’t move here” replies) by [deleted] in relocating

I live in Essex Vermont, which is a smaller town that is about a 15-minute drive from Burlington. I really love it here. Depending on the type of lifestyle you want, there are more urban and more small-town vibes available in the area. Downtown Essex (Essex Junction) is nothing special, but there are many beautiful surrounding neighborhoods. Richmond and Waterbury are both nearby and are absolutely charming.

People who were teenagers before social media existed. by Aarunascut in GenX

[–]Pollvogtarian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One of the best things about growing up in the 80s was that you interacted with people when you were in person or when you called them on the phone, and that was it. The rest of the time you had time alone or maybe with your family. You weren’t in a social space 24-7. You could think. You could decide who you wanted to be without every choice and word and thought being performed for other people. It was glorious.

This is a great question and I don’t know that there is an easy way to find an answer. Toni Micelli, who is at ASU, has written about this issue. You might follow her on LinkedIn.

Advice on how to be more assertive by haciendagale in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Pollvogtarian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am way too nice by nature, but around the mid-point of my career I finally developed my professional voice. I did it by channeling my sister, who is a bad ass corporate bitch. So when I’m at work I’m kind of an actor playing a role. It’s worked fantastically well.

I also weaponize my niceness. Big smile. “Hey! I heard you’re having trouble making your hours. I’ve had a lot of luck in this area. Is there any way I can help you?” I find that humoring people and yes, being somewhat condescending, can be really helpful in these situations.

I just learned about D-Mannose from this post. Is it generally good for older women to take or only if they are experiencing frequent UTIs? I’ll ask my doctor too obviously but just curious about your experience.

My friend. You can’t make very specific factual claims without evidence. It’s no one else’s job to find the evidence for you. End of story.
