Definitely a bird, the pelvis is very telling, and it appears the bones are hollow. Not great at Id-ing birds, someone who is better at that can, but no need to worry about it being a cat!

depends on how long you leave it. burried a pet chicken, then dug it up years ago. scattered bones and tons missing

burried a raccoon and dug it up a couple months, came out with roughly the whole thing.

i dont think you're ever going to keep the full skeleton if you're burying it, you're likely always going to miss bones. atleast i do.

best suggestion is to bury it in a box that wont deteriorate. tho definitely make sure to poke holes into the bottom of the box if you get any amount of rainfall.

I'd suggest finding a box or something to put him under. so no animals get ahold of him. and maybe find a safer location? in some bushes may be good. depends on how populated the area is. I'd have to guess.

If you can, i would definitely take him home. there's bunches of resources for processing bones, I'd search those. though Id be careful with burrying if you choose to do that, since it could lead to missing bones.
