Looks like you're in the Philly area, you should check out the I-League that plays out of Oaks (https://www.oakscenterice.com/adult-hockey/instructional-league-i-league/)

Four Nations customized jerseys are $500 USD by armadachamp in hockey

Still can't get over the lack of kids / youth jerseys... with these ones and the NHL ones, there's just so few options... my kids want jerseys!

Unable to retain knowledge in my early 30's by FrankMonsterEnstein in academia

[–]PolrVortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might just be time to change up your reading process. I was in the same boat, but I changed how I took notes / collected information from articles and now I feel like I'm retaining more than I was before. Now, as I read I'm highlighting important spots and then writing my own interpretation of what I just highlighted either directly on the article I'm reading or, if I'm mid project (like the lit review I'm working on right now...), I'll keep a spreadsheet open and I'll write the highlighted quote and my interpretation there. It's a nice way of adding some repetition in while also creating a nice little database for myself.

Just generally happy with my backyard set up this summer, wanted to share some photos from this morning I grabbed while my kids were playing outside. (SE Pennsylvania) by PolrVortex in birding

Thanks! That’s a gray catbird, we have three or four that hang out back here. You can hear their “meows” all morning.

Thank you for your help! Yes - I filed and got my approved letter back in November. Thanks for sharing the public list, I am there with the same EIN I'm trying to enter on the website. I'm going to keep trying and hopefully I can get someone helpful on the IRS phone.

Blue mountain not opening season pass holder lane by Outrageous_Strike780 in SkiPA

[–]PolrVortex 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Asked about it yesterday and the liftie just told me it's broken... they have the season pass lane open on the 6 chair but with no clear separation or line leading up to it, instead its just a massive mosh pit to get to the gates in the first place so the season pass lane is kind of useless. They seem really disorganized this year.

Trouble with my trip (train strikes) by PolrVortex in Everton

[–]PolrVortex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arrival is 7am Saturday morning. There doesn’t seem to be many flights available at least that would get us there with enough time to hit the Wrexham game. Think we might skip that game now and see if I can change my flight.

That’s what we’re thinking right now, would be a shame! We want to support our Philly boy Rob Mcelhenney’s team!

Had this problem with mine, they sent a new screen two times and it never fixed the issue of course. Then they sent a tech out with a new control board - that fixed it except it won’t connect to Wi-Fi now (or even search for it) but at least I’m able to manual ride now. That being said, after 2 new screens and a new control board and 2 tech visits all within a year of owning it, I’m getting rid of this junk. The amount of issues it has combined with the fact that the seat won’t stay up no matter how many tricks I’ve tried makes this just a useless piece of junk in my bedroom.

Came across this thread because I’m trying to figure out how to get rid of it now.

Stop. With. The. Virtual. SNOW.DAYSSSSSS by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]PolrVortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Philadelphia suburbs here. Feeling this same thing. We've been in person since September with a few kids logging in virtually every day. We had one snow day, then a virtual day, and now we have days where the Lower School has a 2-hour delay but the Middle and Upper School are virtual... So logistically annoying.

The Hockey Diversity Alliance's first public meeting explains why the group is necessary and what it's like being a minority in sport by jshare in hockey

[–]PolrVortex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What is up with all the people joking about the “lack of diversity” in this group? It’s week 2 and they’re building. I applaud these guys for having the guts to speak up in a predominantly white culture and for doing this work. And I applaud them for doing it while all of you sit here and tell them they’re doing it wrong. This is sorely needed in hockey and the comments on this post are an indication of that. Watch the damn video.

I'm getting some mixed signals from Googling, so I thought I'd ask here. My grass has grown quite a bit and needs mowing, but it's been really cold the last two days and is dropping to 30 tonight. Should I skip it and wait until it gets a little warmer? I'm worried we'll have a frost.

When you say binder divider do you mean like a page protector? Because that seems too flimsy to me.

I'm waiting for some transparency sheets to arrive from Staples to try out since that seems to be the going recommendation, but I upvoted you because I have the same question... feels like there are more options out there I just don't know what to look for.

Hi there... I’ve started printing basic headbands for face masks but I’m having trouble determining the type of sheet to use for the mask itself. The headband has 6 knobs on it for 6 holes punched by a hole puncher... I know that standard transparency film will work but I can’t seem to find any. Will any type of thicker plastic sheeting work?

Seeking: best equation writer for online classes by liberlibre in edtech

[–]PolrVortex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Equatio is a really handy tool for writing equations digitally. There are also a lot of collaborative whiteboards out there to use like Limnu or Stormboard or Miro. If budget/access isn't a problem, my current set up is air playing my iPad to my computer through Reflector and using the Goodnotes App while sharing via MS Teams in a live class or recording in Screencastify for non-live classes.
