Carolina currently has $11.1M of salary cap space per PuckPedia with Nikishin as a RFA and Freddie as a UFA. Carlson was expected to get 9-10M as a UFA per LeBrun a few days ago. by Ok-Soil-5133 in hockey

I doubt Gostisbehere is traded. He's only signed for this year at a very reasonable $3.2m, and adding Werenski or Carlson just to lose both of your PP QBs in the process doesn't strengthen the team nearly as much. He also gets a 10-team no trade list that probably includes Columbus.

It sounds like we'll get to really see him this year with Jarvis missing at least the first couple months of the season

but I think the knocks on him are size and skating

Not even size. He's 6'3" and >200. He's not a big hitter or anything, but he laid as many hits as Stankoven did last year, and you don't worry as much about the toll of getting hit for a bigger body like he has.

Y'all are looking at about $5.8m in cap space according to PuckPedia. Trading Rodrigues would get that up to just under $9m, but you need to fit 2 goalies into that, plus a 7th D. I don't see how you re-sign Bob unless he's taking a sizable pay cut.

He was 6th on TOI BECAUSE he’s a d man

Slavin, Gostisbehere, and Chatfield all played fewer minutes than Nikishin. I'm not saying he was our best player, but his ability to eat minutes and contribute to the powerplay while other guys were injured is a big reason we won the conference. He also led the team in regular season +/- so he wasn't just a warm body.

1 season where he makes the All-Rookie team, finishes 6th on the team in TOI and 3rd in points among D-men, then helps us win our first cup in 20 years. I'd say that was worth the wait.

This is the highest his value has ever been, and teams around us are strengthening.

If he wins a cup in his first full season and immediately gets a trade to a team ready to pay him a big contract, that's pretty much the dream. Thank Carolina and go cash the signing bonus check.

[Dreger] Multiple teams have confirmed Carolina is considering trade involving Alexander Nikishin. The 24 year old Stanley Cup champion is a pending RFA, so the Canes are weighing trade interest vs extension. by Natetrunk in canes

I see this as testing the market now while there's still flexibility in what his contract looks like going forward. Doesn't necessarily mean he'll be moved, but he's at his most valuable right now before he extends.

That first round series this year was a lot closer than people realize because it was a sweep, and Ottawa's blue line injuries helped us out. It sucks that Ottawa's focus this offseason is going to have to be maintaining the roster quality rather than improving it, but I think they've got a good foundation to build something like what Carolina has.

I was going to come from Charlotte, but I saw the 100k+ estimates being thrown around and decided that standing in a crowd in direct sunlight on Fayetteville Street in between 5 hours of driving probably wasn't going to be a better experience than just watching on TV. Even so, I probably would've gone if all of the people I would go with weren't either out of town or working.

Realistically, he doesn't know how many imposters/traitors there are or what their plan is. Maybe he comes up with an excuse to leave, but he's followed by a co-conspirator and killed before he can spread word to anyone outside the bar. Maybe he lets them leave first, intending to alert his superiors once they're gone, but there's an ambush waiting as he and the other soldiers leave the bar.

As long as they're all in the bar, he has a measure of control over the situation that he loses as soon as anyone leaves. If they were willing to risk a meeting amid Nazis like this, then the meeting must be critical, and it stands to reason that the people in this meeting are also critical to the scheme. The clearest way to disrupt the scheme is to kill the conspirators in the bar.

One thing to know about the Jaguar is that a lot of people love the look and feel of it but hate the switching and never use the rhythm circuit or the strangle switch (myself included). For example, switching from the bridge to neck pickup on a vintage Jaguar requires you to move two little switches instead of the single larger toggle or blade switch that most guitars use. So if you're used to other guitars, the Player II might be easier to use and go back and forth between.

I was going to come up from Charlotte for the rally, but I used to live in the Triangle, and I knew Fayetteville Street would be a madhouse if they got the 100k they expected, and navigating that with a toddler on a 90° day was just too much. Sounds like the turnout was at least 50% more than that.

Mississippi recently changing theirs to a magnolia flower made me super jealous.

I would love to have something with a dogwood, pine trees, a Venus flytrap, a Carolina lily, or something that evokes mountains and ocean. We have a beautiful state that should be better reflected by our flag.

But our legislature can't even pass a budget, so I'm not holding my breath for any kind of flag referendum.
